A nice tribute to those that serve our country last night, along with some super wicked awesome folks dropping in on things + a BIG WIN against the hottest team in the league and boy are they skilled and FAST.

Skinner had one serious miscalculation and should have GOT BIG on the second goal, but otherwise was pretty solid behind the net.

It was nice to see the team be able to maintain the zone and actually breakout of their own end.

My player of the game though was Roslovic. Tremendous skill, almost a goal of the year and hardworking.

That raises the question of McDavid's ceiling!
It all depends on health. I'm staggered by Crosby's production these days considering his mid-career concussions, and his jaw injury.

McDavid (28 years old) is now 70th in all-time scoring. MacKinnon (30 years old) is 89th. They will both be fun to watch climb the charts. They are both 1500+ point people if healthy. The rest depends on desire and health.

Speaking of which, I forgot to give a shout out to Kucherov who passed 1,000 points within the last week. Next on that milestone is Marchand (boo!) and Draisaitl.

Definitely thought Crosbys career would be cut short when he was having concussion problems, very happy he was able to overcome them.

OIL SPILLS — McDavid notched points No. 1,100 and 1,101 (364 goals, 737 assists), becoming the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to hit that milestone behind Wayne Gretzky (464 GP), Mario Lemieux (550 GP) and Mike Bossy (725 GP). McDavid did it in 726 games. McDavid reaches 1,100 points a full 124 games faster than any active player, beating Sidney Crosby (850 GP)

How does McDavid's feat stack up if you weight it relative to the number of goals scored when the other players did it compared to today's game? Scoring is up compared to 20 years ago, but is likely still well below the 80s...

80s were on average 3.75-4 G/game versus 2.90-3 now, so call it 25% more.

Hockey Reference has adjusted point totals, but not season by season breakdown.

Hockey Reference Adjusted Career Totals

All-time points
Gretzky 2857 (adjusted 2475)
McDavid 1101 (adjusted 1263)

Gretzky put up absolutely stupid numbers by the time he was 29. He had 1979 points by the end of the season he turned he was 29. I'd say he's still way ahead of anyone at the age of 29.

For other reference Crosby is at 1933 (adjusted) and around 100 points behind McDavid in the year they are 29.

Crosby's late career production is unworldly. Just like Ovechkin with the goal scoring, although maybe Ovechkin has hit the physical barrier now and I would guess the mental barrier is large after the rush of the chase. I haven't seen Washington play this season yet and haven't been paying attention to his shots or chances statistics.

He's put together a great career after being demoted to the Marlies for a couple of seasons. Some great memories. Being on a winning Stanley Cup team and scoring a game winning goal in the that series.

Kudos to him indeed.

Up 3-1, lose 4-3 in OT.

This is really beginning to speak to a shit room, poor player leadership and invisible coaching.

Nice to see Kadri pot one on his 1000th! Great game overall by the Flames, and glad to see Wolf playing like he did last year!

Well then Edmonton. What the FUCK is that room like these days, any leadership, accountability?

Our 'gut check' game sure said a lot.

1. They have given up on our goaltending.
2. There is almost no chemistry.
3. Federick has no clear spot on this team.
4. That nobody fought or laid someone out to bring some energy out of the group is telling.

Stan is probably waiting for Hyman to return before he does something, but this likely will force his hand.

This captures it well.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...-to-avalanche/

This should have been a 4-3 game.

His pause after losing faith in goaltending question... but beyond that:

'were not even close'
'over confident'
'lack of cohesion'
'waiting for folks to step up'

'I see a lot of issues beyond goaltending'

I was hoping Wolf would have a 'down' season and let the Flames fall. They aren't going to make the playoffs and they really need to look at the future.

Nice on the Kadri side. I hope he can get traded to a contender, like Vegas, or back to Colorado.

I've heard some speculate one of Celebrini or Beddard might be left off Team Canada due to age? I really hope not... as I think Beddard will especially shine on international ice.

Here's hoping Team Canada doesn't do that, like they've done in many past year at the Olympics.
