Richmond council expresses frustration with pipeline, but votes in favour
By Maria Rantanen, Richmond News | July 23, 2019

Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie told an audience member at Monday’s council meeting to put down his phone and listen to council.

While it wasn’t necessarily breaking a fourth wall in a theatre performance, Brodie’s admonishment of an audience member broke from the normal deliberation between council members and consultation with city staff.

Tensions were high as councillors expressed their frustration at a jet fuel pipeline from southeast Richmond to the airport and a tank farm on the Fraser River being proposed by a consortium of airlines, the Vancouver Airport Fuel Facilities Corporation.

Recent Richmond aerials

I flew through Vancouver this weekend on the way to the Island and was fortunate to have: (a) a window seat; (b) good weather; (c) a window that wasn't too scratched up; and (d) the wherewithal to have my phone handy to take some photos on final approach. Without further adieu:

That's how you massively create mid-rise urban density. With the foreground and the night market parking developed, City of Richmond will look very urban from this view.

Especially when these big area lots are developed in 1 phase. The whole area around Alderbridge will become a 2 or 3 sites. So dont take long to look metro fast

Looks like Alfa will sit as a partially built shell for a while. I wonder if another developer will pick it up?

Construction company pulls out of Richmond project
Citing financial uncertainty, Scott Construction ended its contract to build the Alfa condo project on Buswell and Anderson.

...Two weeks prior, Scott Construction told the Richmond News that they were suing Anderson Square Holdings for $4.6 million for extra costs associated with delays on the project.

This followed the cancellation of pre-sales in the project after the owner pulled the plug on the 15-storey project at Anderson Road and Buswell Street, a block away from city hall.

In a statement to Richmond News on Monday, Darin Hughes of Scott Construction said the company became “increasingly concerned” that Anderson Square Holdings couldn’t pay Scott and its subcontractors after letters were sent out saying they couldn’t get a construction financing commitment

“Unfortunately, Anderson Square Holdings couldn’t demonstrate to us they had secured reasonable evidence of financial arrangements to fulfill their obligations under the contract,” Hughes said. “As a result, we have terminated our contract with the client.”...

Possible, If there figure there is money in the job. in 2009 there was a few stalled projects that got picked up and completed. As I recall the Concord job by King George station was started by a different Developer. It sat un finished for a number of months. And Onni picked up a Millennium project in west Van as I recall

Work gets heavy on the $267-million The Paramount project in Richmond, B.C.
Grant Cameron September 12, 2019

GRAHAM CONSTRUCTION

Preparatory work is complete and heavy equipment is now on site for the start of construction on The Paramount, a large $267-million residential and office building project in a busy area of downtown Richmond, B.C., directly across from Richmond Centre shopping mall.

If all goes according to plan, three residential towers and one office tower will soon rise from the site of a former strip mall. Construction is expected to take about two and a half years, finishing in spring 2022.

The office tower will have a very unique appearance as architects have incorporated a slanted curtain wall design into the structure that will make it look distinctly lopsided and much different from other buildings.

“Currently we have seven subcontractors on site,” says James Cassano, senior project manager at Graham Construction which is in charge of the work. “We expect manpower to peak at 400 to 500 people.”

Three 15-storey residential towers and one 12-storey officer building are slated for the sprawling site on the eastern side of Number 3 Road and north of Cook Road. A presentation centre on Cook Road and enabling early prep work were completed earlier this year, paving the way for construction to begin.

Keltic Canada Development is developing the mixed-use complex. The company has nearly $1 billion of residential communities under development in Metro Vancouver.

Vancouver-based GBL Architects has designed The Paramount, which is just steps away from SkyTrain stations.

Hollybridge Part of River Green 2 est. completion 2023.

https://hollybridgeliving.com/

Went to the VIP launch event and they have some gorgeous penthouses with giant rooftop decks facing the water, however 3-6 mil+ is a bit rich for my taste. Some of the images below are from the Hong Kong launch. For some reason there model looks better. Hollybridge is the 4th complex in the River Green development at the very left of the last photo which has really spruced up Oval Village. Its 3 buildings in a block U shape. Currently you will see the 3rd development, the New Towers, under construction as you pass over the bridge from the airport to Richmond.

It's been covered in preload for years. Probably will be the next phase after the one to the east of the oval is complete.
