the world juniors often play to a typical average attendance of 5-6,000 per game (particularly when it is held in locations like Russia).
noting that those averages include the rivalry matches and the final and semifinal matches, there's probably a high proportion of the 64 games played in total that played in front of not many more than "no fans to watch live".
for a typical golf tournament, the live attendance on the first day is a lot less than the live attendance after the cut or on the last day and for many of those on the course there might as well be "no fans to watch live".
it's all about the tv money and the media coverage anyway, not the live gate. besides, i'm a believer that while atmosphere probably counts for something, the pros are pros because they can tune it out. they don't play for the fans watching live, they play to win...
