Versteeg didn't make the team, really thought he would.

Sounds like Wayne Gretzky is taking on an executive role with the Oilers. Because that's all the team needs, more alumni from the Boys On The Bus era in charge.

He received an offer on a 2-way deal from the Oilers. It was turned down in favour of a 1-way deal from the Flames and a perceived better chance of playing as a top 6 forward.

Austen Matthews scores 4 goals in his first NHL game. Unbelievable.

Jack Eichel injured. So much for the matchup vs McJesus on Sunday.

Matthews' performance was crazy, shitty it kinda stole the spotlight from the Oilers. Especially considering the Leafs didn't even win lol.

The stats that made the Oilers game amazing in my opinion:
McJesus 3 points with an amazing penalty shot goal.
Puljujarvi our draft pick rookie got a goal first game, and it was a beauty.
All our defensemen, aside from Davidson who left early unfortunately, got at least one point. Defensive performance from Russel and Larson was really good.

Oilers play a Eichel-less Buffalo later today. Hope the Oil can maintain this early winning streak.

Good bounce-back win after stinking out the barn on Sunday, though it got dicey near the end. What is worrying is that once again they're accumulating a lengthy injury list.

I know, it's like the team collectively walked under a ladder, petting a black cat and slammed into a mirror, smashing it to pieces ...

Those dangerous cross-ice passes aren't filling me with confidence either. We need our players to gain some patience & understanding that if they're not being overly pressured they don't have to pass to someone else just to pass to someone else.

Don't knock the kid; Pitlick has talent, speed and drive. His downfall over the years involved season limiting/ending injury. My understanding is that he also became a father this year. So he has just gained a massive bit of motivation to do everything in his power to prevent being sent back down to the farm.

Yeah, if that is what we are going to be seeing from him that will be awesome.

That play he made in the third driving the net from out wide....looked like a Lindros or Neely.

Is it just me or is everyone too slow to play with McDavid.

He will start in his zone and beat everyone to the other team's net. Basically if you aren't carrying the puck you better be skating as hard as you can, ignore the offside because he is beating you the other team's blue line, and you they still seem to be behind the play.
I dunno, it's weird to watch a guy start in below his own circle and wind up being 1-3 between the hashmarks in the other team's zone with his wingers behind him still on the boards.
I might be over blowing it a bit, but it seems that way.
