Indifferent on the design at the moment but I find it very fitting for Miami. Looks more like a condo high-rise.

I love it. It's giving me a little bit of Asian vibes.

The building, set to be one the city’s tallest, will “redefine the Miami skyline,” the spokesperson said, adding that it will bolster Miami’s reputation as a “destination for talented professionals and their families, businesses and culture.”

Foster + Partners is handling the design for the Miami tower, which will also include retail and waterfront restaurant space, according to the filings, as well as a public pedestrian path along the water.

Finally it is revealed!

The hotel at the top is very interesting.

How many hotels are there in the us with rooms over 900 ft??? I had a difficult time googling.

Edit - found this, not sure how comprehensive : https://www.loveexploring.com/galler...s-in-the-world

According to the list this would put it at around 16th highest worldwide (all middle east and asia), #1 in Western Hemisphere, and roughly tied with Shangri La in The Shard in London.

That's pretty classy. It's not as bold as the Waldorf and I think will age better as a result.

Renders and Designs Revealed for Citadel's New Global Headquarters
https://floridiandevelopment.com/ren...-headquarters/

Here are some new renderings and info:

Quote:
To accomodate for on-site visitors, the tower will include 50 below-grade parking spots with additional parking being used at 1221 Brickell Avenue and 1250-1260 Brickell Bay Drive.

The development will proceed in planned phases, beginning with the renovation of the main office tower and a new parking structure at 1221 Brickell Avenue to accommodate the new headquarters. There’s approximately 1420 parking spaces between 4 basement levels and 8 parking tiers. Below are new facade treatments for the parking deck at 1221 Brickell Avenue.

The buildings at 1250 and 1260 Brickell Bay Drive will be demolished to create space for outdoor public seating. Likewise, the tower is connected with its environment, having a large, accesible baywalk with trees and a 55.92′ setback. Fronting the baywalk is dining space and an outdoor terrace.

Also, this will have 1,293,373 square feet of office space.

Up close the cladding is giving serious Cesar Pelli vibes (reminiscent of Petronas Towers or 18 King Wah Road in Hong Kong), which is not a bad thing at all. The base and lobby look absolutely amazing, and that dining area is going to be a huge draw. The 'hat' at the top bothers me a bit, but it's at least unique, and can see myself coming around to like it over time. Foster + Partners rarely misses, so excited to see this rise.

seems evocative of a tower of a citadel fortress or castle. Probably not a coincidence.

Apparently some Miamians on other forums are not too happy with this design saying that Citadel had promised an "Iconic" tower that would transform the Miami skyline.
Instead they have now dubbed it the "Shampoo Bottle" tower :

I don’t hate it, but after the big buildup to the “International Beauty Contest” I’m a tad underwhelmed.

It doesn't evoke a WOW response but its really memorable. It's one of those buildings that'll make people point and say "that's miami". I think people will get to love it in a few years once it settles in the skyline.

That is one bizarre looking building, but I can see it settling into public consciousness over the years.

After stewing on what this reminds me of I figured it out. Lighthouse. I legitimately wonder if this is what Foster might be going for. The concept definitely fits with the Citadel name.

It's like a Miami version of the John Hancock Center.
