The columns in the cassions have now been connected by a grid of steel girders.
I think that they may be creating a temporary roadway/loading zone suspended above the future excavation for London Drugs and Vancouver Centre tenant loading.

I'm really looking forward to this building, even though it may not be the biggest or most audacious one going. It will brighten and snazz up Seymour greatly upon entering downtown.

From Business in Vancouver:

Mobile game developer to lease seven floors in Vancouver Centre II office tower

By Tanya Commisso, Western Investor | November 22, 2018, 4:10pm

Vancouver-based mobile game developer Kabam has secured a lease for 105,000 square feet of office space at Vancouver Centre II (VCII), which is currently under construction by GWL Realty Advisors.

Kabam will be the new office tower’s lead tenant, leasing close to a third of the building’s 345,000-square-foot floor space across seven floors. The 33-storey tower is currently under construction at 753 Seymour Street with an expected completion date in 2021.

“It’s not surprising the building is already one-third leased before excavation is even complete,” said Geoff Heu, vice-president of development, Western Canada, for GWL Realty Advisors.

“With the current exceptionally low office vacancy rate of 3.9%, we are confident that VCII will be fully leased prior to completion.”

As VCII’s major tenant, Kabam will have access a number of amenities, including the 29th floor Skyline Rooftop Deck and a fitness facility, including a yoga room.

Kabam is one of the largest video-game developers in B.C., with its 172-member employees count in 2017 ranking fifth largest in the province for that year. The company won at the 2018 BC Export Awards on Nov. 22, beating out Arcana Studios and East Side Games in the Digital Media/Entertainment category.

The new lease at VCII is part of Kabam’s long-term growth plans. The company also has offices in San Francisco and Austin.

^^^ That name rang a bell. They had been in Carmana Plaza and then moved into 745 Thurlow when that building opened a couple of years ago. They must be doing well.

Saw that last night from Kits, it's very bright. I wonder if they're testing a lighting system for 753 Seymour?

Eventually the building will need to be reclad, the glazing system must be near the end of it's useful life very soon.

I'm thinking it'll probably be a reclad of Scotia Tower. It's definitely showing its age, and I'd imagine they'd want to bring it up to the same quality as Vancouver Centre II once it's all built out.

God I hope not. It'll end up being more clear glass I bet.

Sounds promising. I've always hated the look of VC and in particular the Scotia logo...though I know some like it.

But the idea is definitely to "update" the look of the building so that it matches the look of a "AAA" class office building, as opposed to just window replacement.

The Scotiabank space on the first 2 floors of the Georgia side is very tired, so it would make sense for a complete redo and maybe the lower floors could match the new building. Not sure about LD.

Interesting, I definitely missed that.

Scotia would look sharp with backpainted black and white spandrel glass and darker vision glass. It would be a less faded version of it's current form.

I would however prefer they kept the white stone and only go for backpainted black panels and darker vision glass, but it would be a welcome refresh either way.

Haha damn, barely 30 and already going senile.

This is going to get rough!

Edit: I just went back and read it. I made nearly made the exact same comment this time and even teased my 609 reclad project. Yikes.
