Water feature that will be turned off in 2 years: Check
Picnic tables for the homeless to serenade you from: Check
White lobby furniture that will be trashed by a stream of renters: Check.

In other words par for the condo course in Vancouver.

I guess the truth hurts for some.

How long has it been since you lived in Vancouver? Next time you're in town checked out some of the clapped out sky-homes built in the last decade: Spectrum, TV Towers..that's the future that awaits the Marine Gateway buildings with such a high proportion of investor owners.

The mechanical penthouse was lit up on the North tower as of last night.

Ok so I still don't get that pale yellow strip that's at the bottom of the south tower. It's obviously not going to go all the way up. Why even have it?? Is it supposed to be "architecture"?

That has confused me to no end since it went up. Baffling.

Too bad about the weather, but an interesting angle. These units will continue to have an unobstructed views over surrounding towers. I doubt anything higher will be going into the area further away from the station.

What was the penthouse itself like?

Yeah it was gusting and raining pretty heavily while I was up there on the deck, pretty sure I potentially risked my life while taking this photo

The Marine Gateway penthouse itself was just okay imo, finish was pretty basic. I was surprised that even in the penthouse unit, the kitchen appliances were very small. Overall fantastic views, but unit quality was nothing spectacular. I would expect MC2 across the street to have much better finishes.

I took this pic from the MG plaza earlier today. The symetrical white spandrel doesn't look all that bad.

What is taking them so long to install balcony glass? Current weather?

Thanks for the pic. Agreed, doesn't look bad despite the heavy use of white spandrel. Nice reflective glass and unobtrusive mullions help, but it would have looked better without the Vancouver Setback(TM).

Not being critical Klazu, I love the sunny photos, of which yours are some of the best. However, I also like to see the misty, cloudy, rainy ones too. I like their quality, but more importantly, its good to see what the buildings look like (with wet materials and dark reflections of the sky) under these conditions, as well as to see what the reduced views are like. I live for sunny days and I've learned to like the other side of the coin. Its good to see the contrast between the two in the photos you guys post. Thanks!

By Yellow Fever posted yesterday.

Note the random yellow and purple strips on the north tower -
to match the lone yellow strip on the south tower.
I'll assume there will be more on the south tower once the balcony glass is complete.

Thanks for the updates, vanman and officedweller! Though having the balcony railings installed helps, these towers still have a crude, unpolished look to them. I imagine bidding for the land was quite competitive so perhaps Intracorp got squeezed there and had to make it up.
