A HUGE green screen outdoor set has been put up in North Van along Lower Level Rd. I was driving past it on my way back from Whistler to the 2nd Narrows (Did Sea to Sky in just over an hour, woohoo!).

I figured this would be the most appropriate thread to put this information here...

The Amazing Race (Australia) is filming in Vancouver as we speak. Last night they arrived at YVR and, according to Translink's twitter, rode the Canada Line to Jack Poole Plaza. This morning they have been performing a task on the Grouse Mountain gondola. No updates as to their current location since this morning, but teams had been rumoured to be checking floatplane schedules earlier today.

I can't imagine a more beautiful winter day for The Amazing Race to be showing off our city!

Me too I am not surprised that TAR Australia came to BC - there are probably more Aussies than Canadians in Whistler at any given moment

Filming going on behind the Orpheum today - they added a number of fake doorways to the wall (saw them being put up yesterday (they are just plywood)) - looks great!

BlackBerry pic by me today:

i was reading about TARA the (amazing race aus) coming to vancouver and apparently the producers found it a nightmare because so much info got leaked and caused a lot of problems for them with tweets and pics being leaked and the public helping out contestants and fans showing up at locations to watch

That's pretty cool. I grew up in Mission and remember eating at Rocco's Diner for greasy eggs and potatoes. Good to see Mission getting some movie and commercial attention. I also remember when the A&W down the street was used in a nation-wide A&W commercial a few years back.

There is a huge movie set at the east fraser lands site. One of the biggest I have ever seen as they built a entire castle. They have two rows of 53' containers stacked on each side of the set to block views/sound/light and their stacked 4 high, 6 long and two deep, and still dont cover the entire length and width of the set/castle they built. Then on top of it they have several tall cranes holding lighting above it.

The movie will be "The Seventh Son" by the way coming out in 2013.

i just ifnished watching the amazing race australia, the one where they come here - it just aired in australia, you can find it to watch it if you know where to look

all the teams used taxies to get downtown from the airport... it was pretty cool to see, they all seemed impressed

My cousin works for Legendary Pictures and she showed me around the set in May. It was VERY impressive. The detail was amazing. Even got to see some filming and met one of the main characters (Ben Barnes).

I work nearby and drove by that huge castle set every day. It seemed like a huge undertaking and took them few months to build, shoot the scenes and disassemble. I hope the movie is anything interesting when it comes out next year.

Cadillac Fairview sent around a notice that filming for "Arrow" will be occurring around the Art Gallery south plaza - I think it's a spin-off from Smallville.
