There's fencing up, and people working around it. I'll try to get some pictures, but between this and the 5 floor building by I-5, the Mill Plain couplet should get a bit of a boost. If the lot behind Burgerville sees any progress it will start to be a great gateway to the city.

I just hope Vancouver doesn't mess with Muchas Gracias. That's gotta stay.

A few pictures of it that I took this week, the subject should be updated from proposed.

Nothing too exciting yet, but at least they're still working on it. Mill Plain will feel quite improved between this and the old Denny's site.

I did most of the detailing for the curved roof lobby on this building and curtain wall at the main part of the building- it's definitely an improvement over what it was!

Great work! I really think this is a great addition, I just hope that the new developments can be followed by some of the vacant businesses coming back. After that, fill in the big parking lots. (See also 15th/16th Washington/Main.)

It seems like it Mill Plain will be a great 4-12 floor midtown for Vancouver, if they do things right. It seems like the recent developments plus Broadway, Main and C being 2-way streets now might get Vancouver's central core to start growing more.

Salem|Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry|55 FT?|4 FLRS| Under Construction

Finally starting a thread for this one. It's located just north of the Marion Parkade and Movieland Downtown.

From Arbuckle Costic Architect's webiste:

To me there are some similarities to their design for the meridian. The Roof overhang above the main entrance, the way the building is broken into blocks, and the punctured openings all are reflective of the meridian.

The crane is gone, they are putting in windows and laying brick.

I like the dark brick.

I think that it would have looked a lot better with one more floor on top of it, but unfortunately they are already having enough trouble selling the units as it is. I went to the opening for the building and I think they had 2 of 26(or something like that) sold. I wish them luck.

On Jan. 9, 2009 the city of Salem authorized a long-term lease agreement with Marion Park LLC to redevelop the structure.

images from Meridian Construction Flikr photostream:

I'm dissapointed about the main lobby. They must have had some fire separation issues - no windows into the spaces, security doors. They didn't do a good job of mixing the light and dark tile either. It looks like some kind of secure state office or something - I don't know what to think.

The units look new. But, I do like the size of the compound.

A friend of mine in Salem said that the ugly 5 floor "triangle building" is starting to come down, so this is a good start!
