Horrible company with very poor customer service as well... I will never refer to it as "Rogers Arena".
I'm not quite sure how GM as a company is any better...

I don't like the name "Rogers Arena" either, but I have a feeling that most people will refer to it as BC Place, or BC Place Stadium, or something like that. It will have the both official name (blecch) and the colloquial name people use to refer to it.
(Just as the Lions Gate Bridge is, officially, the First Narrows Bridge).

What? You mean people will still refer to it as GM Place.

They are far worse. Their products have killed millions of people, created tremendous environmental damage and they lost $100 billion dollars in the process and had to be bailed out by the government. It is hard to think of a worse company except perhaps, the ones that produce the fuel for their products.

Moonbeam? Is that you? Took a few seconds out from riding your holy cycle on the sidewalk (which should really be named a cycle path, based on the number of cyclists that have appropriated sidewalks for their own) to fling more monkey poo at your latest demon?

Personally, I have never liked branding venues with company names. They did this in Victoria a few years ago when they rebuilt the Memorial Arena and it opened as Save-On-Foods Centre. Same has recently happened with Nat Bailey baseball park. As a concession to the many who were offended (war veterans in Victoria, and baseball fans in Vancouver), both names are kept in subtitle.

Well, Gregor isn't as bad as Adam West, but he's getting there.

Has any one seen this before?

I just stumbled on it on the maynards block website. There is a link that says, "Coming soon: GM place"

I'd actually prefer Adam West to Gregor right now.

And yes, that render has popped up here before. There is a model of the same thing down at the Maynards Block presentation centre on West 2nd.

It is amazing how towers and the viaducts can co-exist in that picture, and little to no land is wasted!

Yes, Adam West is a great example to Gregor. The Stanley Park name change fiasco reminds me a lot of the Dig 'em Frog golden statue fiasco

I would love for this tower to start construction soon. Just saw a job analysts and apparently future trends are not looking well for Vancouver, but they are looking well for Abbotsford, maybe that is because all of the businesses are moving out to sprawly business parks? Must be something we can do the entice more office towers downtown (and even light to moderate industry within Vancouver proper's borders). Maybe keeping decent vehicle access to downtown via the viaducts while also improving transit (skytrain, street car, buses) and adding bike lanes will help this situation. Many businesses, even some office jobs, do require the use of light industrial vehicles and delivery vehicles.

Wow look at that tower design! So fantastic!

GM and other Detroit manufacturers are the reason most North American cities are so poorly planned and filled with smog. They bought off politicians and had almost all non-car infrastructure destroyed/cancelled. If you're a fan of good cities, you should hate GM.

Rogers is horrible too, but on a far smaller scale.

There's a little leaf-shaped slice of land between the viaduct and Expo. The site is bisected by skytrain guideways, but that's apparently not stopping aquilini from building on top of it. From what I've seen in their early models, the first 4-5 stories will have a split core to work around the tracks.

Lower business taxes in the CoV. This is the one of the main reasons businesses flee to the valley. Second is rent, but there's not much that can be done about that. Transit would be further down the list. In the end, it mainly comes down to money.

hilarious how out to lunch some forumers are on the politics. yeah, let's be mindlessly right wing without knowing shit about politics or economics! it seems right, so lets just say it! yeah! no thought or consideration, because, you know, that's how we roll!

uh, so, how was it at the "university of calgary" guys? looks like you learned a lot! classic.

anyway, substantively, when you're tossing out your mindless invective, it would help if you actually had a clue what it was that you were saying, what's relevant and what's ludicrously (and i think quite comically) just taken straight out of the american.

that aside done - cool renders, nice to see.
