Unless the plan was to put it on the other side of the runway extension (where there is zero infrastructure), I really can't see it going in the Dieppe park. It's true that the area is close to 90% undeveloped, but the lots just aren't big enough. Take a look at our building in Google Maps. It sits on ~7 acres and the building itself has a footprint around 75,000 sq ft, not including parking lots and storage.

The new Kent warehouse is going to be 4x larger than our building, with an even larger outdoor storage area. All the talk a few years ago about WalMart put their space needs at way higher than even that.

Now that said, if they were to put it on the other side of the runway, it would actually make a lot of sense. That land is useless for anything other than industrial development because you can't build high near an airport and who'd want to live there?

Any idea what's happening across from Lou McNarin school on Gauvin?

It's funny actually. The whole Champlain St area has been pretty quiet this summer up until about the last three weeks or so. Now there are at least 4 construction sites in the area.

from News 91.9:

Dieppe rebrands economic development agency

City says Expansion Dieppe better reflects growth in the community
Allan Dearing
Sep 6, 2013 01:53:08 PM

DIEPPE, NB – The City of Dieppe’s economic development corporation has been rebranded as Expansion Dieppe.

City officials say the name is simpler, easier to remember and is the same in English or French.

Mayor Yvon Lapierre says those are just some of the reasons for the change.

“Specifically we don’t do direct economic development in the traditional sense. It’s more about expansion and planning of land use and finding the appropriate balance in doing that,” notes Lapierre.

Expansion Dieppe will retain the same staff and board of directors.

Dieppe’s population has increased by 50 percent since 2001 and the tax base has tripled in 10 years.

Just to advise that they put up a sign at the old fisherman location, announcing a Irving a circle k and a pita pit.

They are currently digging in order to put the oil reservoir.

So those McDonalds rumors were false. I wonder if they (McDonalds) are actually planning on building a restaurant elsewhere on Dieppe or Harrisville blvds.

Yes, I was wondering. Driving by, it didn't look very much like a McDonald's.

Wasn't that rumour originally in the T&T? They don't usually make mistakes like that......

There is definitely a McDonald's being built, the site work contractors have already excavated the foundation and it's already been poured. The forms for the foundation are still there at the moment.

The existing building will be the Irving/Pita Pit.

(EDIT: The "structure" being built/poured next to the retaining wall that was redone is the McDonald's. Not sure where the reservoir is located though.)

Ok that makes more sense. I didn't notice another bulding next door. The reservoir must be what they're digging right at the corner near the Dieppe/Champlain intersection

Yeah, this must be the case.

The McDonald's itself will follow along the newly moved/made retaining wall and the drive-thru traffic will flow between this wall and the building itself.

A small commercial development is planned for Dieppe Blvd, between the NBLC and the Second Cup.

The developer has once said that they would like to see a restaurant in this location. Leads to wonder if they have found a tenant to fill that wish list.

The development at the old fisherman's Paradise is moving along, steel is up for the McDonalds. Circle K and Pita place is in a strip mall format, wonder what will occupy the 3rd unit?

Dieppe blvd is a hive of construction activity today. Aside from the widening north of Champlain and the construction of the irving/strip mall and McDonald's, they are also installing the traffic lights at both the aquatic and chartersville intersections and another construction project seems underway on that new street behind the jean-coutu.

No movement yet at the recently announced project between the Seconf Cup and NBLC.

According to www.villageondieppeblvd.ca :

We will also begin construction of a 15,000 sq.ft. Retail building in the fall of 2013. It will be located behind the Jean Coutu Pharmacy. Contact us for space availability.
But there's not more info on what will be going there...

There is now a "for lease" sign in the 3rd unit, so I guess nothing for now

According to News 91.9, the traffic lights on Dieppe Blvd at Chartersville and at Rufin/Aquatique will be activated on October 31st......
