Here's the snapshot, now with bonus highrise construction tracker!

I've also now added a little tracker at the bottom tracking how many of these cranes are working on highrise buildings. This isn't the total amount of highrises U/C in Van, that number is higher, just how many highrises that happen to have a crane working on them at this moment.

Sorry as this isn't super useful since I didn't take the time to note where they were and compare to the master list, but I still thought it was worth mentioning that when I happened to be on the East platform at Burquitlam the other day, I could see 11 cranes in the Burquitlam area just from one spot on the platform, which kind of blew my mind a bit. I mean Olympic Village, Oakridge, sure, double digit cranes I can process, but Burquitlam?

Sadly they are too scattered about to capture in a single picture, at least, not without a Klazu style vantage point and camera.

On top of the cranes, there are a ton of cleared parcels, especially on the East side of North Road, all the way down to where the funeral home used to be (didn't even realize that was gone, until I passed by on the train). Once those holes turn into towers, the Lougheed and Burquitlam skylines will be pretty much merged into one.

Added another crane to North Harbour in North Vancouver.

Think there might be five cranes at the Sewage Plant project, need to confirm.

Currently 209 cranes up on the spreadsheet which is fairly up to date, I believe that's a record so far.
The mega projects have really contributed to this number, currently there are 34 cranes serving the largest five projects; Oakridge (12), Richmond Centre (6), Southgate (6), Gilmore (5), and the Broadway Subway (5).

We're going to lose a few soon and might not make it to 210 so I figure a screenshot is in order.

For the Valley I can confirm it’s more than 1. In Mission alone there’s 3.
One at the new wren+raven development and another one possibly going up.
Another one for a new apartment building at 32335 fletcher ave beside the hospital.
Also one for Missions new tallest building 11 storey building in mission downtown. This one might be coming down soon because the building is almost done.
In Abbotsford there’s at least 2. One for a new 6 storey building right up against Mill Lake in central Abbotsford.
Another crane is at the third phase for the Central Park Village neighborhood.
I was also in Chilliwack and saw a crane up in the Garrison Crossing area, beautiful neighbourhood BTW.

So in total there’s at least 6 between the three Fraser Valley cities.

For the sake of 210, did we include the derrick crane at Oakridge

Thanks for the updates!

That '1' has been there since 2020, I'm sure whatever project if was for is now complete. Unfortunately there is no page for the Fraser Valley and that number was just updated directly, the column has been locked from editing so we can't change it.

I think we have so few updates on the forum of the valley projects that it's best not to attempt to track them on this list. It's hard enough keeping the Surrey section up to date.

It's LeftCoaster's list though, I'll let them decide.

I didn't but if you're giving the go ahead to count it why not.

I also just updated Latimer Heights in Langley which now has 7 cranes on site!

There is the question of the two cranes at Vancouver Shipyard that I added last year. I'm now thinking they being used for their operations and not building a structure so I took them off the list.

That brings us to 211:

right before covid, i was in vegas and the cab driver said the economy was booming there and pointed to the three cranes putting up a new hotel as proof.

i think of that every time there is a new post here.

Not too surprising, downtown is pretty built out already.

I just added 5055 Joyce and took down the last Concord Brentwood crane as that came down a couple of days ago.

Thanks to everyone for helping maintain this, it's pretty incredible how well this is working and the numbers we're seeing.

I think the NS is in need of an update so I'll try and get on a drive through there one of these days, but the weekends have just been jam packed of late.

I don't see the two towers at 3600 E Hastings but one of them is being removed today.
