Interesting they are still entertaining the idea of starting the team in 2020 at a temporary location.

Realistically they'll have to play part of 2021 somewhere else anyway in all liklihood.

I'm hopeful we get kickin in 2020. Either play at UT or Round Rock and call it a day. I think it'll be nice to get a good fanbase built up and soft launch the team with lower expectations than a full new stadium.

That is awesome!

I suspect our stadium will have similar capability in terms of state of the art electronics, but the overall effect will probably not be as dramatic. The translucent walls of Allianz allow the light to escape in all directions, which is probably less desired here due to our dark sky policies. I think our stadium will be focusing more on interior fan experience and less on impacts around the stadium.

Do we have any information about a rail stop and/or a pedestrian crossing to get to Delta Drive? That would *really* open up connectivity especially to the breweries.

In a perfect world someone would have bought that print show at the end of McKalla place and we could extend McKalla Place under the red line and connect it to Delta Dr.

Are you finding this on the permit search or somewhere else? I can't seem to bring anything up for 10414 McKalla

Edit: Ah, it's in there as "MC KALLA"

Nope. There isn't any funding for the rail stop.

you think that the city will get complaints from the tenants about the noise/traffic from the stadium? It could get quite intrusive for a someone who didn't necessarily "chose" to live next to a stadium.

As I understand it, Austin Housing Authority has a waiting list for subsidized housing, and tenants rarely get a choice. The one I lived next to on Bluebonnet -Goodrich Place, typically had elderly (ambulances were very common), and/or infirmed....one guy was disabled (and spent all day in front of the Shell station on Lamar bumming drinks off customers) Harmless sweet guy, but just saying, this may not be the best spot for subsidized housing.

If the entire building uses the % of per-capita income approach like they do with the "density bonus", that could work. Those projects rely on the tenants to chose to live there.

On the other hand, I think it would be good if they built more "family" style units. I think the kids could/would be inspired, and the teens would have a great place to work part time...come to think of it, I think that is a great idea.

One of the ABJ reporters tweeted that the stadium lease allows the affordable housing to be built at an alternative site if Precourt opts to pursue it elsewhere.

I wouldn't bet on that Phase 2 happening at this point . . .

it looks like the buildings are approx 10' apart on one side. No way you don't have serious noise problem with tenants being that close. Imagine an announcer's voice, concerts, loud crowds...come on man. This is crazy.

1. I'd imagine the parking garage for that housing would be on the north side, nearest the stadium.

2. The design of the stadium and the overhanging shade structures are expected to help significantly with noise containment.


Come on, this is Austin, where ACL Fest is in open air and the noise literally carries for miles.

The stadium agreement signed in December does allow PSV to exit the deal if an initiative or referendum "adversely affects" its ability to run the stadium.

The membership of Friends of McKalla is murky. Nazor was the only person identified in the Thursday announcement, which quoted multiple unnamed "representatives." Political action committees IndyAustin and Fair Play Austin helped collect the signatures.

IndyAustin was also a vehement opponent of CodeNext and gathered enough petitions to put a question on November's ballot asking whether voter approval should be required for comprehensive land-use revisions. Proposition J was defeated at the polls by a 52-48 margin.
