Del Taco's expansion into North Carolina continues with a new location in the Triad, as two experienced franchise owners invest over a million dollars to bring the California-style taco chain to Kernersville. A new Del Taco location is opening in Kernersville, taking over the former Burger King building on Union Cross Road.
Wow, I love that view of Metropolitan Village, looking down Fourth Street! Thank you for sharing these. Do you think this development is visible from Hotel Indigo?
I hope metropolitan village is leasing up and will be successful. Would be great to see more development in that east side area. It seems like all new apartments are so expensive and all have to be luxury but that isn’t desirable nor affordable for most. If it takes being in a more urban, evolving neighborhood like east Winston to bring more affordable or income-mixed developments, that could be a good area for that.

I wouldn't do that. The amphitheatre I believe is being contracted by the same company who did either red hat in Raleigh or the amphitheatre in Wilmington. There was a huge discussion between the Flow's and First on Fifth baptist church about logistics between the properties.
I'll be the first to say I have a hard time imagining how they will fit in that space, but that's what's going on there. I heard it will seat around 4000 people
Edit* and it will take up that entire block, not just the section of the demo'd building.
I have a hard time believing that an amphitheater would be approved in that location. Adjacent to a couple of churches and Crystal Towers. As an out of town attendee having two major chain hotels within a block is nice.
From what I remember the Entertainment District around Industry Hill was created for developments like the amphitheater. At one time there were rumors of it being planned in the NW Blvd/MLK/Trade/Patterson block. This would be similar to the Skyla Union Amphitheatre in Charlotte.
Another possibility would be to do like Greensboro did and place it outside of LJVMC around "The Grounds".

GMAX Industries Inc., a New York-based disposable medical supplies manufacturer, committed Friday to establishing its first North American production and distribution facility in the former Winston-Salem Journal press and production plant.
The minority-owned business would create towels, gauze, surgical drapes, gowns and syringes, according to a presentation by assistant city manager Ben Rowe.… According to a Greater Winston-Salem Inc. news release, GMAX plans to buy the 144,000-square-foot building at 2051 E. Fifth St., which sits on an 11-acre site.
Wow, this is great news about the amphitheater. Fingers crossed it comes to fruition.
Looking closely at the site, it really does make a lot of sense. It narrows and descends onto 6th so they won’t have to dig down much there or build up too high on the 5th St side to have natural view lines. There’s a ton of parking nearby and few evening users in nearby spaces to be bothered by noise.
I think that Crystal Towers and that end of West End should be far enough away so that, assuming good sound engineering, there will be minimal disturbance. Hopefully the church will make some money with paid parking (as should the other owners of the lots in area).
We really owe Don Flow a huge debt of gratitude. If this comes to fruition it will mark a real rebirth of an area that looked likely to fall deep into dereliction.
Also a shout-out to the Theater Alliance and their Ihrie theater! Repurposing the old taxi garage on 6th has created an entirely new entertainment focus near the convention center.
Hooray for more live music and entertainment downtown and here’s hoping we get a wide array of offerings! Has anyone heard rumors about who will lead promotion and management of the venue??
