Ewwww! Unfortunately, most of this is going to wash into our rivers and oceans when it melts.

The airport bar is back

If you're complaining about the crowded airport lounge, you should just go back to the airport bar

By Emily Stewart
Feb 26, 2026

There's something special about the airport bar. There are no rules. No one will bat an eye at what you order — or what time. It's one of the last true democratic spaces left, a place that holds the full range of human emotions, from anxiety to excitement to despair. You bond with a stranger over a drink, swap stories, commiserate about a flight delay, and then disappear to separate gates, never to cross paths again. In a world where third spaces are dying, and consumers are being segregated between haves and have-nots at every turn, the airport bar has quietly endured.

But the airport bar is not-so-quietly under siege.

The Stratolaunch is designed to carry a rocket between the two fuselages and launch them.

One Fuselage has the crew that flies the plane while the other has the crew that manages the rocket/payload.

Not quite yet, It was funded by the late Paul Allen the Microsoft Exec. He bought two Boeing 747s and had Scaled Composites combine them into one airplane.

After his death the company started to struggle with other rocket makers who they had contracted to build "Stratolaunch compatible" versions of their existing rockets ... like SpaceX was going to build a custom Falcon9.

They are now focusing on being a test bed for supersonic and hypersonic launch vehicle developments.

INSIDE the World’s Newest $4.6B Airport Terminal

109,917 views 14 Mar 2026 #AirportsRevealed
Watch this video to see inside the World’s Newest Airport Terminal! Welcome to the NEW Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3! This terminal will be home to 57 airlines with room for even more!

Construction began on the FRA Airport Terminal 3 nearly 10 years ago and cost more than 4 billion Euros!

In this Airports Revealed video, we were invited for an Exclusive First Look inside! We participated in the Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer process called ORAT. I participated as a passenger in the early stages in December 2025. We were able to explore the World's Newest Airport Terminal at Frankfurt International Airport!

We'll look at the passenger experience from beginning to end.

The New FRA Airport is just one of so many exciting New Airport Terminal projects going on all over the world and we had so much fun exploring the new FRA Terminal 3 before it opened!

There are 62 gates at FRA Airport’s Terminal 3, spread across three piers.

The unique Double Helix Carpark station beneath the Sydeny Opera House!

Thought you'd like this video about the genius design of the 12 storey DOUBLE HELIX public car park BENEATH the Sydney Opera House. Hiding in plain sight!
Free for you to check out when next down there!
One of the most unusual underground engineering structures in the world. Cars spiral through a continuous intertwining corkscrew, creating a one-way traffic system unlike anything else. But what makes this place even stranger is the experience of using it.... the design creates a series of weird glitches and paradoxes that easily confuse people....every level appears twice, lift doors repeat on different ramps, and the final parking spaces you reach are actually the first ones to exit!!

A YouTuber called PinkyThumb did a 30 minute video on the LRT from the perspective of someone who doesn't live here. It's always interesting to hear the opinion of the LRT from people who aren't residents or who haven't used it much. Especially because at the local level, most people think it could definitely have been built better and run faster, whereas outsiders are consistently impressed by how decent it works and how cheap it was to build.

I actually just watched this this afternoon with my wife. We both commented on all the positive comments he made and we both thought that it had more.value as an outsider. We are definitely to self critical of ourselves. Different lense, different view. I thought it was interesting he said Metorlinks could learn something from us.

They're starting to market hybrid airplanes, like this short-range/ regional business jet developed by Toulouse-based Aura Aero.
The project is called ERA (Electric Regional Aircraft).

Video Link

The plane is powered by 8 electric engines and 2 turbogenerators on "sustainable aviation fuel" (SAF). It would automatically switch from electric to fuel mode and the other way round pretty much like a regular hybrid car, with nothing required from the pilot.
First flight is expected this year and certification in 2028. A whole bunch of airlines (including some from the US) would be interested in the project and want to buy it.
It would cut fuel consumption by a mere 80%, compared to planes of the same category.

Range: 1,500 km (~1,000 miles).
Capacity: 19 seats.

They aim at boosting regional air travel by developing things like this.
There would be military applications too. The French Air Force would be interested in drones based on their technology.
