Thanks for the photos. I always find it interesting when buildings are visible from angles I didn't really think about, like Richmond Yards being visible from King's Wharf.

There's no good reason for any of them to be unaware. Kings Wharf has never been promoted as anything other than a large-scale, multi-phase, decade-plus development.

I agree, but over and above that, ya pays your money and ya takes your chances... Nobody ever knows for sure when a property next door might be bought up and redeveloped. You buy what's there 'today' and hope for the best.

So I am completely ignorant to the fine details of this project. I have only posted on the PEI thread on this site.

I just want to ask about the tallest building in this project. Is it still slated to be 120m?
It would be wild to see 150m since that is the minimum height to be officially a "skyscraper".

Isn't six storeys what is required to be a skyscraper in PEI?

I believe the height map from the previous page is still the latest plan. It indicates 120 m for the tallest tower and 82.5 m for the tower that is currently under construction.

The tallest is two 10 floor and one 9 floor buildings. LOL

He will probably flip it to a REIT to help fund his share of the project next to the MacKay bridge.

Mixed Use & Commercial Building Permit - New Building - Submitted - 50 KINGS WHARF PLACE, DARTMOUTH - $31'776'891 - Mixed Use - Residential & Other Use(s) - Residential Use - 95 Units - 15 Floors - New construction of a 15 story mixed use building.

See 'Lot F' on King's Wharf's Website (note I don't believe this site plan includes the newest changes).

Been looking forward to the flagship building ever since this development started. I hate to say it but the smaller buildings are just not attractive so hopefully the taller ones will distract from them.

Interesting. I don't find the existing buildings unattractive at all. From talking with friends, though, it's apparent that some folks really don't care for them. To each his own. I wouldn't object to a different look for the newer ones.

I do question whether the Maristella will ever be built, though.

Do they have their permits for Building J yet? Seems odd to start on this one before they do J as that one involves the second access which is required before any new buildings can be occupied.

Went with a friend for a drink last week. When walking into Kings Wharf now you definitely feel the "presence" of new tower. A good feeling.

I don't think that they're ugly per se; mostly just bland and generic. A selection of squat, nearly identical boxes with very conventional designs and materials in a setting that calls for something more elevated. It wouldn't be an issue in a lot of spots like if they were built in Clayton Park, Westphal, etc. but they're too conspicuous right on the harbour.

It wouldn't even be great if they were tucked in among other buildings downtown, but it's hard to be infill when you're totally exposed like that.
