I've been a skeptic about this building. I tend to be against big fat buildings that take up a whole city block. I think that sets a bad precedent and results in a sterile downtown. However...

I must admit that this is a signature tower for a new, mature Austin.

It feels weird to be here to witness a time when the towers that Austin will be known for are coming into being.

I can't help but reflect back on the Green Water Treatment Plant and how we all imagined it would end up looking. It turned out far better than we ever imagined.

Soon, we won't be able to imagine an Austin without this building.

I just really hope they don't slap a tacky Google logo on the side and ruin the clean look.

They can put a Google logo on the South side, and I'd be fine with it, but if they interrupt the western face that'd be upsetting

I can agree with that.

However, if they have some fancy digital display that can light up the entire sail with text, images, videos, etc., a la Times Square, that could be cool, too... I just don't want a big G on it to break up its sleek appearance.

Great great pics! I can really envision the final product from them. Couldn't help but notice all the weed gunk in the lake. Also, the train bridge has some decent decals for a change.
