Wow! Isn't that literally across the street from where 1050 Howell Mill development is going?! Wow. Can't wait to hear more about that series of projects. 210 million? Must be substantial. The office building does looks interesting though. Hoping we get more information soon. West Midtown is about to go boom again.

EDIT: AJC had a little story a few days back about the history and story of the scrapyard and confirm the property will be closed on very soon. http://www.myajc.com/news/news/local/torpy-at-large-another-piece-of-old-atlanta-on-the/nqssB/

These people don't understand Atlanta. We need livable neighborhoods not secured fortresses for the nomenklatura.

Viva la Eviva!

The monthly parkers at the future Eviva site were told that their permits for April will not be renewed.

I took a walk this morning and a contractor has stacked chain link fences on the north end of the site, near 6th st:

Will be interesting to see the site plan - this area has had a need for a grocery store and I'm willing to bet it will bring a range of them to this sub-market soon.

"the entire project, which will redevelop five properties clustered around 11th and Howell Mill, will be called Star Metals, a nod to the landmark scrap yard it’s replacing.

It will also include a nine-story, 409-unit apartment building, the latest sign of demand for rental housing on the city’s west side.

The project will also feature 30,000 square feet of ground floor retail. An organic grocer is a likely candidate to fill much of that space.

It’s possible the developer may try to land Whole Foods, which is expanding its smaller 365 concept in Atlanta, or another organic grocer concept such as Sprouts Farmers Market."

Wow! Thanks for posting the clearer image. Took me a few minutes to even notice the parking included in the structure!

I wonder which will happen first: West Midtown builds out to Northside Drive or EST's Midtown Promenade and Midtown Place stripmalls are redeveloped. Either would be monumental for Atlanta.

As an aside, drove past the residential project at 455 14th Street and it looks incredible. Would love to see more understated, timeless buildings like that going up as opposed to the gluttony of buildings that use 14 different materials.

It doesn't seem like you understand Atlanta either...I would put my money on most developers having a solid idea about what will "fly" in Atlanta. I think Atlanta residents are a bit more sophisticated and aware than you imagine. Anyway, you're making a knee-jerk assessment based on an initial proposal - not a final rendering. Could you maybe wait until more information is available before completely trashing an idea?

Thank you.

This is hardly a "secured fortress". With the amount of retail in this project this will start to become part of the connected retail corridor along Howell Mill. This stretch will be amazing once 14th to Marietta is a continuous walkable corridor, and this is just one more piece of that puzzle. Office no less, providing jobs and adding to the mix of use along the corridor.

Is this correct?

Office at the red property and apartments at the blue properties?

Almost. Don't include the norhteast corner of the blue parcel. Northside Tavern will remain.

Not to mention it adds much-needed sidewalk/streetscape improvements to the area. I've also been told that a CID is being formed for Howell Mill from Collier Road area all the way down to Marietta Street/Northside Drive.
