I just noticed google maps street view has been updated and the most recent version has the new arena in it. It's almost finished with the crane.

This is most likely a stupid question, but in the first photo where it shows the ice oval being built, does it appear that it is two-tier? The back end seems lower than the front end closest to the stage. Or will it eventually be all one level?

And any idea what those two "posts" in the middle are?

The rink will be one level. They've only finished installing a portion of the base. Once the base is complete, that "step" will be gone.

I counted 14 rows at the Moncton Coliseum bowl section. 14 rows in the new Events Centre bowl brings you from ice surface to red line. Doesn't seem real, but it is!

Not one bad seat in the house. Can't wait to attend an opening event!

It really does have a way of looking smaller than it is. Too few points of reference, I suppose, with all the smooth concrete. It'll look much bigger once the ring and seats are installed!

It's actually very similar in size/shape (except for the suites/press box side) to the Bell Centre and Centre Videotron's lower bowls, around 28 rows. The only real difference are that our bowl is a lot steeper from the concourse level upwards, but otherwise it's probably the closest comparison you'll find.

I heard seats were being installed soon after Labour Day, so it'll probably look a lot different by the next media day.

This is massively important. Public buildings in Moncton must dedicate a percentage of their cost to public art. I can't remember the percentage figure. Let us pretend it is 2%. Two per cent of $100,000,000 is, in mathematicians' language, a "shit-ton" of money for art. This could be really, really, cool.

I noticed in a few render photos of the plaza, the circle we have assumed to be the kiosk/cafe/skate rentals is actually a raised grass area with trees... if you scroll to the bottoms of the article Felipe_ars posted from Acadia nouvelle, there is a story that shows the render with the grass pad area.

It's always hard to please everyone with these things so this should stir some vigorous public debate.

The l'Acadie Nouvelle image still shows the kiosk/cafe/skate rental place, but it's in the background, closer to the main entrance of the events centre.

This clearly shows that monctoncore was right, and that ovoid concrete base is for an elevated planter. The kiosk/coffee shop/skate rental place however is still on tap and will be built immediately behind the stage.

The drop off zone in front would be a perfect place for food trucks to go driving large events, though that won't happen, it would be a nice spot for them. I also have a feeling the kiosk will be the last thing built, I'm not sure why, just a hunch.

I also just noticed on the web cam, it looks like they have installed seating in the suites! Maybe I'm losing my sight, but it looks like seating or something dark.
