or maybe cars flying off the bridge deck?

I remember that the City implemented setbacks from the bridge decks after 1000 Beach was built close to Burrard Bridge, if I recall correctly.

The tops of the boxes should be the decks for the units above
- they just haven't installed railings yet (ie I see balcony doors above each)

It would be way too design-oriented to block off each of those sliding glass doors (like a juliet balcony)
and prevent access to the tops of the boxes.

Thanks for posting officedweller: been wanting to see how the new concrete and paver road would look like underneath the bridge. This will be a great-looking new urban space in the near future!

They could do something similar beneath the viaducts.

Are they going to make it a permanent pedestrian zone? I remember renders having an outdoor movies screen and other stuff. I wonder how busy a fairly remote area like this could become?

I suppose they can easily block it off to vehicular traffic for special events to occur there, like a food truck festival or night market. Guess we can do these any time of the year without the fear of snow and rain!

I think this area can be successful: If Granville Island can, I don't see why this place can't. As long as three is enough retail going around, people will come. I just hope CoV will maintain the premises well in years to come: lots of walls for graffiti and corners for outdoor urinals and drug use. I'm hopeful as large projects can also pool enough resources for better security to ensure the area is clean and free of yahoos.

I seriously doubt even after they finish construction there would be enough pedestrians down there to warrant it especially considering the sidewalks should be pretty wide. The side streets under the ramps have parking entrance/exits and seems like 100 street parking spaces will take up most of the road.

With the completion of the building now anticipated for the summer, Westbank have now requested that the 47 units being offered as assignments stop advertising them for sale, and prepare to complete the purchase transaction. It would be interesting to know how many walk, and give up their deposit, and how many complete the purchase. This is apparently totally normal with completion of projects - at some point close to completion the developer cuts off assignment sales.

As neighbors of Vancouver House, we got a notice today of a proposed zoning change to permit a 3,440 sq ft distillery so Long Table Distillery can relocate from 1451 Hornby to 1462 Granville. That space is in the Vancouver House retail space between the off ramps. Anyone been to their current location?
