P3's are designed specifically to curb skimping out. If there are major issues with the infrastructure then the owner doesn't have to pay more for it's replacement or repair. P3's are like buying the extended warranty. If there is an issue then it is the company who has to cover the cost.

The problem I will have is that in my daily commute home, how do I get from WB Perimeter to SB Lagimodiere. The WB/SB loop isn't open yet and they haven't listed the detour on the map.

I will be on an infinite loop.

Wenzel, Springfield, then Lagimodière

Should I say, good luck with that left turn off 101?

Watched the press release video on Manitoba Infrastructure's page. They say the loop won't be open for 2 weeks or so cause the current construction detour is blocking them from completing the WB to SB loop. They also said the best option for WB to SB traffic is to go to the henderson interchange and pull off the U turn back EB on perimeter until the loop is open

Insane that they're recommending a U-turn on the perimeter. Yikes.

Not an actual U turn. There's no where to do that. Take the exit to Henderson and the on ramp back to EB 101.

They actually had just that (u turn on the Perimeter at an uncontrolled intersection) happening this past summer with the reconstruction of the Hwy 6/Route 90 ramps.

They're not. If they were, where would you be able to do that?

In any case Biff, just take the NB ramp and do a U at either the weigh station (not sure if you can and if that's the case, it won't last long) or head up to Pritchard Farm. Still closer than going all the way to Henderson.

Weigh station was probably the first thing removed with this project, and the access to pritchard farm/Macgregor is closed. Closest exit headed north on 59 is the lights at Birds Hill, where I don't think U turns are permitted. Best is to follow MI's recommendations to go through to Henderson, exit, and go down Henderson 50m to turn left back on perimeter EB.

(Sorry for my last post using the term U turn for that manoeuvre, it's not actually a U turn crossing lanes of traffic on a 100kmh road)

You would have to go up to PR202 at Birds Hill to do a U-turn. Weigh scale has been removed and Pritchard Farm access has also been removed.

Edit: ah WildCake beat me to it

Thanks for the advice. I have a truck so I will just drive down the embankment and access SB Lagimodiere wherever I want.

A tweet was sent out about 5 minutes ago as of this post. The interchange will be opened fo the most part until the rest of it is finished in October.

Quote:

The interchange at Highway 59 and the north Perimeter will open at 11:30 p.m. this evening. Please expect traffic stoppages and delays as construction finishes. We appreciate your patience.

Curb skimping out?, drive down the Chief Peguis extension and see how poorly built that cheaped out asphalt roadway is with all the bumps and dips and overall crappy surface!

I drove the new interchange this morning. It is pretty impressive and seems incredibly large considering all the new ramps and loops. Very un-Winnipeg like.

I went for a drive around the new PTH-59/101 interchange bright and early today. Here's a sneak peak at my new video covering the new interchange in full. I go along all ramps and overpasses and underpasses. I still have to finish up the signs for the final edit and give it that extra polish that I like to do on my videos. :-)

Agreed, it's getting really rough already. I remember they completed the last phase rather quickly and ahead of schedule as I recall but I just think that all roadways in Winnipeg ought to be made of re-enforced concrete. I'm glad to see that the new PTH-59/101 interchange is, as is Centrepoint Canada Way.
