Certainly not flattering, but an interesting dystopian view of the Calgary skyline from the blighted area at 14 street and 10 Ave sw. Three towers under construction at that intersection currently, all in excavation stage.

West Village Towers turned out OK! One of them should have been a little taller, maybe 6-10 floors.

Yeah I agree. They were supposed to be 150 and 125 meters but they built them both at 150. They gave the city a decent benchmark since we now have 20 150 meter+ towers (including Calgary Tower though). They really extend the main skyline to the west though. The nearest 150 meter is 3 blocks east. Now they’re building those three scrapers at 10th and 14th, plus that one on the right of the photo, which will extend it another 3 blocks west.

Less than 10 years ago the downtown skyline was 2.5 km wide, and by next year it’ll be 3.5 km wide.

Between the haze, the elevated train line, and the density of futuristic-looking towers, this shot looks like it should be somewhere in China.

Meh it's all good, we've seen over 100 high rises (and counting) go up over the past 10 years. A little break would be fine, but that's not even happening since we've got 26 UC currently (same as Edm and Ott combined) with at least another 3 over 100 meters confirmed going ahead by fall. Not bad for the "good new days"

I love what Toronto has done with Humber Bay Park and the islets just offshore. And preserving a strip of public parkland between Mimico Creek and the Humber River was good planning.

That last Toronto shot seems like a good example of Toronto being quite different from Chicago in ways that don't really get captured by the numbers or vague regionalisms.

^ That is indeed unusual. The way it minimizes the office aspect and plays up the residential while emphasizing width over height it almost has a Vancouver vibe.

Very cool. That's the most dense, layered that I have ever seen Calgary look
