There are some great views of Toronto's skyline from the east, but it's unfortunately marred by some of the city's worst new builds. The view from the Northwest is the most flattering, IMO.

The east view of the Toronto skyline is my least favourite. On the plus side, you see the entire breadth from Riverdale Park East and the green belt below is nice. The layout and balance is off putting though. Perhaps when downtown fills in more it won't look so 'off'. The buildings are a few km beyond that green belt so they appear a lot smaller than they actually are. It's more like a big blob on the left with little height variation and little to offset that blob to the right (north).

You guys are picky. The view from Riverdale East is great and contrasts really well with the Don in the foreground. Great spot for a skyline shot.

Yeah. Though I think the Gardiner's good in both directions, actually.

Good views before and after the annoying beer ad thingy here (bit higher up than the Gardiner, but more or less what you see if you tell your passengers to keep looking to the right as you drive through downtown from east to west):

In my case, that's a fair assessment. I take after my parents who are extremely detail oriented visual people. My Mum spent 7 years picking our hardwood floors, for instance. A little insane but they ended up looking amazing. I've been surrounded by gorgeous things my whole life. I notice immediately if something looks visually off and can't 'un-see' it. At the same time I can find beauty in almost anything, even something mundane like a snow bank.

How many km does that sea wall go on for? In a city, I much prefer it to naturalized water fronts common elsewhere.
