Couldn't find the cost for this particular one, but Toronto got a brand new one 2 years ago at the cost of 10 millions, so a smaller scale one, must be at least in the 7 digits for sure.

As for the "video wall" idea, most concerts tour already have their own stage/video setup. They usually want the same exact experience from one city to another.

it could be use for smaller shows, but then you would need to have a crew just for the screens, plus camera guys. Given that it's already costing extra to play the East Coast (travelling back and forth), I doubt that it's something that a band that will play in front of 3-4k will want to invest in.

There was a story on the CBC website today about the city approving the wildcats plans to improve specific areas to the building ( dressing room and shops) costing 2 million which the team will be paying for.

They've installed the curbs for the southward extension of Highfield Street next to the events centre. The outlines of the entry plaza are now appreciable.

BTW, when will the naming rights be announced? I'm getting tired of referring to this building as simply the "events centre"...........

It's great to see the curbs in it makes it seem that much closer to finally being done. Well the first part (Event Centre) anyway.

As far a naming rights being announced unfortunately I don't think will hear anything for a while yet. It is annoying referring to it as the Event Centre all the time.

Testing Flickr's sharing options.

VIA just arrived when I was launching the drone. This is a nice perspective view with the new curb starting to take shape.

I also noticed this. City has/is creating a new sidewalk on Foundry st from the Main st subway to the large parking lot across from Heritage Court.

I can only assume this is to help with the foot traffic flow to and from the Event Centre. However, is this going to be the only route to this parking lot? No pedway or under ground tunnel across the rail tracks?

Makes you wonder. Go cheap for now, save money on the rail crossing, worry about that problem later...if needed.

I don't remember any tunnel in the plans but maybe I missed that. The only places I've read about a tunnel is on online chat boards like this one.

For safety and liability reasons, I cannot in my wildest dreams imagine CN allowing thousands of event-goers to cross their tracks after/before an event. Remember, this is the company whose private police force charged dozens of people in Sussex, including a town councillor's wife, for crossing the downtown railroad tracks a few metres away from the main drag.

Thanks!
Is that going to be there on opening day, according to their plans?
Or is it part of a longer-term vision for the project?
I've been privileged to have a few tours of the facility, including every part of the ground level inside and out and never saw anything like a tunnel being built, or had anyone mention it. So I'm curious. If a tunnel is to open next year, they'd better start digging.

Not sure, the tunnel/walkway are referenced on most of the drawings, could be just conceptual or something they are planning to implement down the line but it doesn't look like it is part of their opening day plans.

The tunnel/walkway is an excellent idea, and was included in the original site plans, but unless there is specific funding for this and an agreement with CNR allowing it, it will remain nothing more than wishful thinking.......

Ah.
Too bad.
I don't know how CN is going to stop thousands of people crossing their tracks before and after an event, particularly when it's cold out and a shortcut across the tracks takes 1/10th the time, I know they are going to try.
In Sussex, they issued more than 100 warning tickets to people using the same shortcut crossing across the downtown RR tracks that people have used for probably more than a century. When that didn't work, they issued over a dozen fines of $124 each. The councillor's wife fought her ticket. I don't know if she won or lost though.
If CN will send cops daily to Sussex to stop old ladies from reaching their mail, their efforts in downtown Moncton are likely to be just as considerable I would think.

Here is quick visual perspective of some possible Event Centre parking in relation to the existing Moncton Coliseum parking lot in terms of size (has there been any discussion on using the land further down the track?). Also who now owns the now vacant lot (formerly Co-op Atlantic)?

Today was the inauguration of Place Bell, and they announced part of their parking strategy (hockey + concerts).

People will be able to park at City Hall (600 spots), and they provide free shuttle 90 minutes before the event.

The parking is at 3km from the venue. To compare, the old Coliseum is 5km from the new venue, so that options could be possible, but I doubt Moncton would offer that service for free.

On another note, here's a shot of the rink with the light show, and the scoreboard. It could give an idea of the type the new Centre will get (size wise)

Very nice, great photo. As far as a shuttle service for the events centre here, it could be viable. I say "could be" as the city would have to make certain that Codiac Transpo was more efficient at running their routes than they currently are. I wouldn't want to park at the Coliseum and be waiting a couple of hours after an event to get back to my car, especially in the winter months. And, yes, I agree with you that this service would not be free. I would be very surprised if it was.

Don't forget that Place Bell is in Laval, with plenty of parking to go around and near a Metro station.

It's still an issue, as most of those parking are already taken as early 9AM (ppl heading to work in MTL), and if there's an event in MTL that night, it will still be full.

Those shuttles will mostly be for those coming from the North shore (Laval, Ste-There, Saint-Jerome,etc), who don't use transit or don't drive to Montreal because there's "No Parking"
