Skip to 5:30 if you just want to see the Kitchener part.

The lack of a flyover ramp from 401 eastbound to 8 northbound is a real pain. Its not like the 8 can't handle the extra traffic now that it is 8 lanes.
I think the lack of a flyover was due to there being too little traffic to justify the connection. The MTO is stingy like that. Kind of like the Highway 401/402 interchange. To get on to 402 from 401 West you have to use Highway 4.

I have heard there is a proposal to turn that interchange into a full T-interchange, though. I don't think it's going to happen any time soon, though.

Cool videos, though.

Do you really think that the 401/402 interchange should have full movements?

I was using it more as a comparison.

Well the 401 and 402 are both east-west routes whereas the 8 is north-south. If you're entering Kitchener/Waterloo you want to take the 8 to get into the city (but can take other exits to get to the 'burbs).

Oh also I found this post in local Calgary showing Stoney Trail construction pics: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=127346&page=215

Footage from a bus showing the Hurontario-401 widening

It's shaky, but shows the project in pretty decent detail.

I uploaded a few new pictures of the most recently completed section of Hwy 69 south of Sudbury tonight:

The whole collection (and some new photos from the two lane sections of highway) are available here:

Assen, Netherlands-based British ex-pat cycling advocate David Hembrow pours cold water on the Ontario Traffic Council's final draft of its updated Bicycle Facilities (Book 18) of the Ontario Traffic Manual:

The manual itself:

Pity we couldn't just learn from the country with the safest roads on the planet: the Netherlands.

^ For me, there was a "show" button in the above post that revealed the images. They are huge as the OP noted.

I think they should bury the Gardiner from the Miss boundary all the way to the DVP and then north 20km to York Region to make for a true urban renaissance.

Needless to say I'm being sarcastic but my point is that although many of these designs are quite interesting and novel they mean absolutely nothing without the dollar amounts that go with them. Without the price tags one cannot distinguish which options are even feasible and of the one's that are {if any as we now Toronto's record on transportation infrastructure isn't stellar} which ones offer the best value for the money spent.

Some of these plans seem to proceed from the false assumption that money is no object but it is THE object or something would have been done years ago.

These proposals are just pipe dreams until the price tags are included and they may find out that after the price tags are presented they may all be pipe dreams.

^ Thanks, I appreciate that.

I have shot a few videos, and I notice that (despite my best efforts) my footage always ends up on at angle. Some of that is just the crown in the road, but one videographer to another, any ideas on how to correct it?

Just do it in post, zoom in your image size to about 104% to 111% (depending on the size of the angle) and just correct the horizon there.

Or, try to correct your mount by sliding a wedge under the lower side.

I never even noticed it. It certainly doesn't detract from the video.
