It makes me wonder what they are going to do when the airport rail line is up and operating and people have multiple suitcases on their train. At least with my clubs everyone noticed me because how often do you see a guy carrying clubs on a train?

And that's why I drive. And if that fails, bike.

I would love to take frontrunner, I would if I could, I just don't have any reason to go to Ogden. I go to Bountiful once a month, I suppose I could work a bus in, but I'd probably still end up driving to the intermodal hub to save time/hassle/money. I kinda thought it was "greener" to like... not travel to different cities to get to work anyway.

So I met with UTA yesterday and things are worked out. No hard feelings either way.

What is that supposed to mean? Our transit system is well maintained. All demographics use the transit system.

No freebies (I have an employer paid pass). I passed on my concerns, which is generally if they want more ridership, they have to be willing to accept people bringing wierd things on board, particularly with the connection to the airport, where people have golf clubs, skis, etc. No need to turn this into a bigger story.

it did seem rather bizarre they would be treating you like you were on an airplane. even if you hijacked a train it's not like you could steer it into a building.

Ok this really isn't Transit News but it's a cool picture of Trax and I tried to put it in the most appropriate thread I could find. I find the pic on google earth.

Well after several attempt the image or ling won't post. So go to google earth and view the pic Gallivan Center Trax Station. The links appear on the top of the Wells Fargo tower.

The image is time lapsed and has the tail end of the North Bound Train as well as the south bound train.

Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake to Announce Progress on Sugar House Streetcar
05/28/2009

Salt Lake City - Mayor Ralph Becker and South Salt Lake Mayor Robert Gray, along with Salt Lake City Councilman Soren Simonsen and UTA Board Member Keith Bartholomew, will announce the progress being made on phase two of the Sugar House Streetcar tomorrow morning at 9:30 in Sugar House. The group will give an update on the project and will present design plans, funding options, and a general timeline for the project moving forward.

I just read the article in the Salt Lake Tribune about the streetcar system for Sugarhouse. Mayor Becker wants this first line completed within three years. Here's hoping.

Sugarhouse street car: the only thing missing is money. the good news is that this line would be relatively cheap to build because the right of way is there. Lets get it done. Street car is one of the best development catalyst's around. that whole area, from 300 West to 1300 East, could really see some huge private investment once this is up and running.
