The new Taurus is full sized, and the police version will be available in AWD or FWD. It has been built to meet or exceed everything that the current CVPI can do.

I stand corrected.

A Honda police car would last about three weeks. I'm serious.

I wish the best for Ford but I just can't see it. No perimeter frame, front drive, small cabin - I think they'll try the Taurus for a bit but it won't stand up. They will likely end up using SUVs.

The cabin isn't any smaller than the CVPI, and it's no normal Taurus. It has a much stronger front subframe, for example. No car today will use a perimeter frame, so I don't see how the Taurus will be any different. Ford will also offer the Explorer as an interceptor.

Oh, one more important thing: The Ford PI will accept CVPI equipment.

Riverman doesn't realize that a lot of the issues he has come up with have also been brought up by Fords engineers and solved. It isn't like they would be stupid and release a tiny police car that disintegrates while performing a fishtail manoeuvre.

As I mentioned, I wish them the best. I remember the City's last experiment with the Impala, they only lasted four months as cruisers but are fine as staff cars.

As usual, the big, ignorant mouth opens and out spews the crap.

As the owner of several police cars and an auto enthusiast for 35 years, unlike you, I know what I'm talking about.

Is this still going ahead? The current on the Assiniboine is still running 8-10 knots!

The river is far too dangerous to stand on a barge - if anyone fell in they'd be gone. Plus, there is no tug in town that I know of with enough power to pull a barge against that current.

Maybe they'll just have the shows on shore?

I'm on the river a lot but the name came from elsewhere.

Seriously, go down to the Forks and have a look, the current is nuts!

EDIT: I just took a boat ride down there and the barge is in. Not a barge really but a series of lightweight docks fastened together and put in in the toilet bowl. It appears they are able to keep it away from the current. Good setup and congrats to all involved!
