Momo looks terrible. But the Akara project indeed still looks awesome. Those balconies are dope. A lot of other great details. I hope they aren't value engineered out.

I am just thankful for what Akara is replacing. I've included a snap i took (while driving I know) of the work going on up at Wrigley. Not a highrise but i figure its completion will hopefully drive lakeview and Tunney forwards.

In contrast to one-time, customized integration of specific tools, LakeSim's open workflow framework is intended enable the incorporation of an array of tools over time. When completed, LakeSim will allow planners and developers to explore a wider range of designs more quickly, without the lengthy periods of re-analysis currently required for each aspect of the development when a new strategy is proposed.

As nice as the tower is, I'm not sure how many more monolithic parking podiums this stretch of Halsted can take.

If the Kennedy does get capped someday, what are people going to look at? Empty blank walls?

^ I hear you, but at least in that case the parking podium would be hidden from the Kennedy cap behind the new affordable sliver building that just went up.

The edges of the Kennedy trench may always be urbanistically raw... they have the same problem at the Big Dig in Boston. Hopefully if/when they ever get around to designing the Kennedy cap, they will put in provisions for skinny liner buildings.

Agreed with all of you. I think the podium looks deceptively large from this angle, though. Halsted elevation will have glass where the tower intersects it, no? First floor is open, second and third parking, fourth floor habitable space...?

I saw the affordable housing building in person the other day. I'm surprised by how much I like it.

These Kennedy adjacent buildings are actually in one of the few places that I don't mind the parking podiums. I don't think the Kennedy will be capped for a long long time if ever. The podiums actually make sense here both in terms of traffic because of the freeway proximity and because of the street noise reduction the added height gives residences.

With regards to the tower on Halsted and Couch, finally, a building that places the pool on the south side of the building so that it will get hours of additional sun. I'm looking at you HoJo tower, Jones tower, Hubbard Place with your misplaced east side of the building pools.

The overall project seems a little... low to the ground. Wouldn't it make more sense to build out half the land with taller buildings and then infill later with other taller buildings than to build this all out in one major swoop with only a few here and there tall buildings?
