Wow I never thought I'd say this but I can see why people don't want to live in downtown with the wall of monotonous condos. I know it's the angle of the shot to illustrate "HK density", but I guess that's what some people preceive of downtown living. I wish concord could provide a bit more architectural variety... thumbs down on mass-produced condos.

Anyways http://www.numinous.ca/Webcam%20Page.htm has recently changed cameras. The image is now more clear and crisp from before. It also looks a bit brighter too around Hotel Vancouver and Park Place; I don't know if that's because of the new camera or if theres some special lighting going on in downtown.

^ They've been filming near Burrard/Pender the last few nights (not sure what), and it's lit up like daylight.

It is probably a bad Reese Witherspoon movie called "This Means War" They've been all over lately, usually at night.

And yes I am fairly confident in calling it bad without having any idea what it's about.

So that's what would explain this display of illumination at 3am today that was lighting up the bedroom of my Grandview apartment? (my pic)

The Reese Witherspoon movie was filming a stunt that involved someone base jumping off of Bental IV's roof~

Vancouver stood in for "random asian city" in the scene.

Interesting The A-Team also had someone going/jumping down Bental IV. Vancouver stood for some German city; the new convention centre was some modern train station!

nice pictures entheosfog
I never noticed that "everything is going to be alright" neon sign before

what I like about the olympic village is that there are little lighting details everywhere.

the underside of of the ledge in front of the big red old salt building
lighting in the sidewalk, or next to it where there are stone/cement blocks
under pedestrian bridge lighting
the lamp posts using reflected light
those public square lights that drift from between red/green/blue
the bamboo poles with swirly lights on top
even the LED bands on the buildings to give them the necessary box within a box gimmick

over by the cambie bridge:
the underside of the bridge is fully lit both above the water and by the pedestrian mall
that LED vase piece of public art
the hand with fingernail lighting that changes colour depending on the village's energy use

It feels like the area had a lot of thought -- and money, but it's the thought that counts -- put into it. ditto for the street furniture and connecting to the water.
