No need to apologize. The links work just as well and thanks for the updates.

I really like the Peachtree & 5th project. The retail looks questionable at this point but at least they used materials that look nice.

It will look nice when it's done. They just haven't put the facade on yet. That project is progressing very slowly for some reason.

I can see that the facade is not complete. What I mean is that how the retail turns out is yet to be determined since so few new projects build engaging street levels anymore.

Here we go again!

Actually their stated timetable was to break ground this year if I remember correctly. I would love to see another commercial building move forward.

We know the retail plan for this. It should turn out pretty nice, and it's a really tall space, so it'll be interesting to see what a retailer does with that.

What's going in at the location and how many retailers? When visiting San Francisco recently, I loved the diversity of the street level retail. I remember walking in on the first floor and to get to a cocktail lounge of a skyrise you had to go down a flight of stairs to the basement. Just up the street you walked into a bourbon bar that had seating on the first and second floor with all sorts of bourbon on the walls like library shelves. Both incredible atmospheres. Sure you pay a premium in San Francisco, but the density and quality of dining and nightlife options are absolutely incredible. Felt like each block had many more options than what's offered on the best block in Atlanta. To be honest, I'm not even sure which block I'd say is the best in Atlanta for dining/drinks.

Completely agree. It's too bad that Atlanta's developments are so large in land area that you don't get the diversity in architecture and retailers along the street. You lose out on that fine urban grain. Hopefully some smaller retailers will go into this development and add to that street experience.

I believe what you and a lot of people would love for Atlanta, starts with the Mayor and others making a drastic perception change with locals for Downtown. More specifically the Fairlie Poplar District. Don't get me wrong, I get the excitement for Midtown, Buckhead, and even Perimeter Center, along with the Beltline. But if the city would really invest in that area, the true vibrancy of an urban Atlanta could come to fruition.

Great news-- An overdue Downtown renaissance is what the City needs more than anything else right now--

Any chance whomever next sees surveyors on the site, they can go ask for a bit of info to share with we inquiring minds? I will if/when I see them.

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/morni...sts-in-planned-232-unit-development.html

The company who is developing the apartments near the Braves stadium and developed the Shoe Factory Lofts in Edgewood is planning a 232 unit apartment development adjacent to Atlantic Station. They just closed on $12.7 million in funding from another developer so we may hear more about this soon, though the article is scant on any details about precise location or style of building (midrise vs highrise)

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/print-edition/2016/02/19/capital-improvements-underway.html

This article talks about Midtown capital improvements, but I thought this was a key takeaway from it:

Quote:
Some $10 million became available recently for capital projects, including the overhaul of 12 blocks of Juniper Street, the Spring Street streetscape, adding bike lanes along West Peachtree and the Peachtree Street bridges.
I've noticed work has been progressing on the north Peachtree Bridge they were pouring concrete for the planter barrier between the sidewalk and the roadway.
Also looks like the Juniper Street design has been changing as it goes through detailed design phase: http://www.midtownatl.com/_files/docs/project_description_juniper.pdf
Now the Bike lanes and the dedicated parking are on the same side of the street.

Interesting about the 232 unit adjacent to AS. As much as I don't enjoy the current state of Atlantic Station, I hope the atmosphere and surrounding walkability improves with more developments in the area. The place is a bit cheesy for my taste, but more developments in the area will ideally provide seamless connectivity between Midtown and the White Provisions district.
