Saw a douchebag in the grocery store tonight. The guy looked like he walked straight out of the trailer park. He had his three daughters in tow (one or two in a stroller) while was selecting the evening booze. I think he picked up apple pucker and didn't see him pick up much else. He must have live nearby, because I noticed him walking his three little girls back home (suburban area with 5 lanes of traffic moving at 40-50 MPH) as I was leaving.

Taking the kids to get Apple Pucker? Shameful! Who the hell of legal age drinks that shit, let alone a grown ass man!

but really this is a boring week for me so i started planning some future travels. hopefully next summer i'll get way out east and south, and southeast. and probably some places in between. any suggestions? basically everywhere east of of kansas will be open to consideration. maybe even the canadian maritimes.
It depends on when you will be going in summer. If you take a southerly route, I'd plan on very late summer or even early autumn. You will run into serious storms and brutal heat, otherwise.

I think he may have been to Duluth.

Shit yeah! I won't be there, but still.

Actually, I've always wanted to do a diagonal trip from the PNW to the SE.

you get the sweaty blues highway type experience with st. louis and down to memphis and new orleans with a stop at clarksdale, mississippi at morgan freemans blues joint or another establishment in town, on a classic as all hell transportation corridor, with the food (killer bbq, Louisiana cooking, etc) and everything and i don't think there is a better way to drop down, if you are going to sweat your ass off you might as well pull out all of the stops and do the south right if you have the time. back up across the smokies, eastern seaboard, and hardcore great lakes. i'd do this late august early september if possible, though, as the storms arent so bad and the nights arent so oppressive down south. early-mid summer you will be hitting wave after wave of downpours in the south, separated by suffocating steambaths...and this is after you survive tornado alley coming down into and across missouri and your car is riddled with hail dents.

If I can step out of my online asshole persona for a moment: Most of what I say on here is just me being a dick for show.

Keep in mind I didn't leave Ohio because I wanted to (95% of my family lives in Greater Cincinnati and I get along with them fine), I did so because my body's a pathetic piece of shit that can't handle a little mold and humidity.

Cincinnati's most historic neighborhood (the one that was infested with crime when I lived there) has done a complete 180 in the past few years (and it looks like the revitalization will start spreading further out).

And if I ever tried to move back to Ohio, I'd shoot for Columbus.

/end nice guy

it drives me nuts when i can't find booze in a grocery store when i'm on vacation. i think most midwestern states you can buy booze practically anywhere, i think, at least if they touch the mississippi river or great lakes.

Yes, and a pint of beer costs less than $5-$7 CAD in a bar! Purchasing alcohol in Ontario is worse than anywhere in the US except dry counties and Pennsylvania!

In some midwestern cities you can buy beer in church. Usually Catholic.

I see President Obama is in town again. Not speaking here, though. Just staying the night.

No, he just talked at ALCOA here a few weeks ago. This tour he's stopping at small towns around the area.

i go to the parish picnic by my house for the cheap beer and cash bingo! typically the people at that bingo game are more drunk than your average bar patron.

^Yep, I grew up Catholic so I'm aware of drunken Catholics. They cuss better than any sailor too. You should hear
my 73 year old mother.

I've been to Duluth and Sault Ste. Marie. I've only left the Lake Superior watershed a few times, to small towns just outside of Thunder Bay.

So I look inside the phone book of someone I've known for years AND MY NAME IS ONCE AGAIN MISSPELLED. I did not realize that it was so challenging spelling "Michael"

I think a lot of people are sounding it out as "mike-ee-ul" and that is why they end up getting "Micheal". I remember how to spell it because 1: it's my brother's name and 2: æ.

Uh, "Michael" only has two syllables (My-cull or Mike-eel. Do Thunder Bayans pronounce it as three?
