mcminsen, please tell us you where there only visiting
I was at St-Paul's on May 21th for a CT Scan of my head, dealing with 6 days of vertigo (no fun), no fun getting old. I'm fine now.

Late afternoon today, they where testing the derrick.

This is my static camera view for capturing. I wont have control of the camera for the rest of the week. Hope I have it framed correctly for the tower crane dismantling.

I didn't notice any road closures but I guess without a mobile crane they were able to do it without one.

I did not see them lift out the Hydraulic base yesterday, I will post a time-lapse on Monday, they should be finishing up by then.

There are pictures of the pool on Westbank’s instagram page and it looks nothing like the renderings and is actually very cheap looking. I’d be pissed if i bought a place here.

They also posted a video and it looks pretty close to the envisioned concept.

People can hate on Westbank all they want but one cannot deny their contributions to Vancouver's skyline and architecture.

I do like the building and I’ll give them credit for the cool architecture but that pool ain’t it.

I was in the pool area and it actually looks great, not sure why anyone would have an issue with that part of this project.

I think the one area that may be an issue is the scallops, but they still need to be cleaned and tuned up to the structure a bit so I'll reserve my judgement until then.

First segment down, 6 more to go. Knowing them from watching, they're probably going to work another 12 to 14 hour day tomorrow to get it done.
These guys are a different breed of construction workers. They're still up there working.

EDIT: Few hours later

They lowered the another half of the jib and called it a day.

And the work continues, they will be done with the stiffleg derrick crane today.
I never saw them bring back up the Penthouse Porsche, was thinking they'd use the yellow crane instead of the smaller red derrick crane, maybe they have the Porsche stored at the North facing penthouse
now

EDIT: A few hours later

He kept the west PH for himself, the one that faces directly into Curv and is arguably the less saleable PH. However, it has the larger roof deck.

Unlike the SPH units, which either occupy the northern or southern half of the tower plate, the PH's were split east west. The one that was sold faces north, east, and south; Ian's faces north, west, and south
