No! While it’s always good to be mistaken for a larger city, I much prefer the aesthetic of our own.

That said, I’d raze The Rooms and rebuild Fort Townshend in its place tomorrow (which would consequently end up with a similar urban form as Halifax and its Citadel). But Halifax doesn’t factor in my wanting to do that. I just hate The Rooms, and Fort Townshend was enormous and beautiful.

Marty’s post did come up in our SSP chat. It was 50% “They’re so negative and condescending. ‘Cluster of office buildings’? They can’t even call it a skyline when they know it’s here.” and 50%, like me, “I’m unbothered. Surprised it fooled Hali, though. You couldn’t take a wide-angle shot like that of any other city and have me mistake it for St. John’s.”

Vancouver was updated late last year. Just in time for Vancouver House's completion.

I think every city and every skyline has that perfect angle which maximizes the look of said skyline. Those pictures get posted a lot for other cities. The most iconic shot of downtown from St. John's is from Cabot Tower all the way up on Signal Hill which sort of does the opposite. The view from Cabot Avenue or the corner of Signal Hill Road and Battery Road has that perfect parallel shot with the harbour that basically looks straight down Water Street.

Ya and with that we finally got some official(ish) heights for some of the recent Burnaby completions. Definitely a few that were taller than I anticipated.

Vancouver has the density. Just needs a few tall landmarks.
