How on earth does that make sense from a business perspective? Unless they are just doing speculative land banking I cant imagine their proforma could support such a large land acquisition cost.

The footprint of the building is going to probably take a chunk out of one lot bordering Roosevelt west of Halsted, but from the sound of it they're looking to build on the old baseball field right at the corner.

Either way, the rendering doesn't do it any justice.

Especially with the LEED platinum rating it will receive. Tons of points for transit location and bike racks. Permeable pavers in the drive through and walls made of shipping containers

No, the labs building at UIC will pull back from the corner. It's an L-shaped building with one leg facing the existing science building to the north and one leg facing Halsted. The vast majority of the greenspace will remain as a quad. The corner itself and the Roosevelt frontage is reserved for future student housing.

^ Yeah, I was gonna say that the NW corner of Roosevelt and Halsted is really just a terrible place for that large baseball field.

What is up with mid-century campus/parks development and their obsession with putting tennis courts and baseball fields everywhere? They are a horrible idea placed in public parks, particularly in Chicago where 7 months out of the year they are basically a waste of space.

That corner should be filled in with development to visually connect the University Village neighborhood to the main campus north of Roosevelt.

We are not ALL pissed...have you seen the Bacon Portabella Melt?!? I have not seen design this high end since Aqua...Supertall stacks of beef and cheese by friends...Super Tall...

Although I am waiting for the new traffic study that has been commissioned. Hopefully the results show that one of those double drive-thrus is required. Otherwise that d-thru will be grid lock...

I'm a little confused about this Wendy's, we aren't discussing wabash and lake IN the loop?

Either way, swicago swi sox seems to be a fan of Wendy's...

I almost bought a place in Newberry. The view was so sick from 37 facing northeast!

For the record, I really like Newberry tower part. I don't like that nasty blank wall on state, but the tower is impressive.

Here's another shot of 2 E Oak in all its glory. The only nice thing about it is the other residents in our building use their garage.
