Or construction costs were unrealistic for this scale of development.....

Consider the timing of when both stadiums will top off and I'm sure you'll start to see some other projects start to break ground finally. The stadiums have had a significant impact on the cost of construction (labor shortages) in the metro area.

That reasoning would have made sense a year ago, but both stadiums have been in development for over a year. So material and labor cost have not changed significantly since Related made the announcement in August the project would start in October.

This is just another example of the Related Group having a poor execution strategy in Atlanta.

Oh I don't doubt that either. Most of my colleagues fully involved in the development side of commercial real estate have been suspicious of this site/project since it was first announced.

Ha. Or better said, do they even have any "execution strategy?" Tons of high profile announcements in Atlanta from those guys. Not sure they've ever moved dirt on anything.

I only know of the Cityplace project. What else is there?

I just noticed on their website that they have targeted the 3rd Quarte 2017 for completion of the tower with WF opening early the next year. I think a construction start in May fits that timetable.

They had a partnership with Simon Properties to build two 35 story towers behind Lenox Mall/Bloomindales. Additionally they have a project on the boards by Maggiano's in Buckhead called The Stratford.

I am aware of those. I meant past projects.

Ironically their land development permit and new construction permit were just issued today.

By the way, a labor shortage is certainly relevant TODAY if for example, their contractor Balfour Beatty cannot put together a team to start the project immediately.

1000 Park Avenue: http://buckheadview.com/2015/03/25/wood-partners-seeks-to-downsize-phipps-area-high-rise-plan/

and

3242 Peachtree Rd, Which I suspect is the redevelopment of the shopping plaza across from Terminus.

Filed for Commercial Land Dev Permits. (not sure why they did that in regard to 1000 Park Avenue when it is multi-family)

Speaking of permits, the Beltline just filed for extension of the Eastside Trail south of the MARTA tracks.

And big news from downtown - Cambridge Swinerton builders has filed to place construction trailers at 60 W Peachtree Pl NW, as temporary construction office for an apartment building. I can only assume this means Post Centennial Park is about to move forward.

Also downtown, permits filed for adaptive re-use of 206, 218, and 222 Pryor Street. Any development in that area is huge, especially adaptive re-use of existing buildings. Anyone know what this is?

Permit for 6 new townhomes on Daniel street just off Edgewood near the streetcar route.

725 ponce wasted no time filing permits. "New mixed-use (grocery/office) development of ~434,000 s.f. & 1,064 parking spaces."

And several construction permits filed for a bunch of new townhomes on Westmoreland Circle on the Westside.

This looks like the view from 12th Street. So is the only way in/out for cars going to be from Dickson Place?

Isn't it showing an entrance off 12th on the left side of the rendering?

Looks like a curb cut to the left of the building (the east side of the tower) - probably similar to the Brookwood Condo's in South Buckhead area.

From the DRC review, the tower will have access from 12th and Dickson Place.

Anyone know if this building is an "L" or "C" shape? Looks like it would be given the mass on these two sides...

Random question. Has the 25-year master plan for the Woodruff Arts Center that was done by Boson-based Sasaki Associates in 2009 been tossed?

After it was clear that Calatrava's symphony hall wasn't going to happen on 14th street, it called for a new symphony hall to be built at Peachtree and 15th Street, on the site of the current plaza. As I understand it, that plan would have required demolishing a portion of the Memorial Arts Building and heavily reconfiguring it into four separate but connected buildings, including the new symphony hall.

But now isn't the Woodruff nearing completion of a fund raising campaign that will include the renovation of the Alliance Theater and the Memorial Arts Building? So it would seem that the building is staying put, which means no new symphony hall?

Ryan Gravel hired as Project Manager for the Atlanta City Design Project.

Project will define what the City of Atlanta will look like in decades to come.

Mayor Kasim Reed announced today that Ryan Gravel has joined the city to guide the Atlanta City Design Project. This new project, under the direction of the Department of Planning and Community Development, will envision what Atlanta should look like decades from now, as well as guide future decisions on the growth and development of the city. Gravel is an urban planner best known for his 1999 Georgia Institute of Technology master’s thesis which was the catalyst for the Atlanta BeltLine. Since then, he has remained involved in its implementation and currently serves on the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership board of directors. Gravel now consults with communities on planning and design for investments in infrastructure through his company, Sixpitch.

“I am pleased to have Ryan Gravel join my Administration and support our effort to shape the future plans for the City of Atlanta,” said Mayor Reed. “His vision to transform old railroad corridors into a 22-mile transit greenway has spurred economic development across the city, improved the quality of life for residents and led to a total transformation for the City of Atlanta. His leadership on this project marks an important step forward in continuing our city’s success.”
