that is HUGE...big reduction in rez parking...CC is gonna get more housing...any thoughts on why this hasn't been done in every single area of change?

But who or what is "Prescient"
and what has it to do with 19th and Logan Streets?

Prescient is a Denver based company located at 6260 Downing Street and TCR is going to use their product - a "game changing technology" - which has been approved for up to 12 stories to build Alexan Uptown.

You can check it out at their company website which includes a nifty video HERE.

Cool video, but it doesn't really tell me how the erector set part of the building works with the rest. Particularly, the elevators and the parking. Wonder where the parking goes.

I think they did something very similar to this at Speer and Washington...

Looks as if the parking is done in the traditional poured or precast method and the manufactured panels would be then placed on the podium or subfloors. The elevator shafts are incorporated into the manufactured panels so you probably have a transition from a CMU or poured concrete shaft.

Seems like a great technology to standardize multi-family buildings and put up a ton of cheap housing.

Looks like Denver is getting some more industrial which is a better option than just capping the site and leaving it as "open space":

Trammell Crow Signs On To Redevelop Asarco Smelter Site In Globeville
By Steve Raabe
The Denver Post
October 30, 2014

Quote:
The long-toxic Asarco smelter site in Globeville, nearing the end of a massive Superfund cleanup, has landed a major-league developer to kick-start its new life.

Trammell Crow Co. has signed on to redevelop the 77-acre property in a key move to give Globe-ville a share of Denver's urban renaissance.

Denver's largest and highest-profile developer, Trammell Crow has agreed to buy the smelter site from EnviroFinance Group and build the biggest industrial park in central metro Denver.

At completion, the $85 million Crossroads Commerce Park will have 12 warehouse, distribution and light-manufacturing buildings encompassing 1 million square feet. More important to historically downtrodden Globeville, the project will bring an estimated 800 to 1,500 jobs.

"It seems like it will be a real positive development for the community," said David Oletski, a native of the gritty neighborhood that spans both sides of Interstates 70 and 25.

"A workforce like that will impact the neighborhood in positive ways," said Oletski, whose grandfather worked at Asarco's Globe smelter. "We haven't seen activity like this in years."
The article mentions that Denver and Adams will also be improving Washington Street in the area, which probably means from I-70 to 58th and I'm sure that a number or companies are salivating at the idea of close-in modern industrial facilities with rail access. Or a bunch of marijuana growers.

Not the best rendering ever (or even close) but here is an idea of what the Source Hotel and expanded market will look like. This is to be built on the lot next to the Source and is expected to be completed in 2016

^^ Love the rendering! I had to do a search to see if my vague memory was close for The Source. It was.

I easily imagined a sort of off-Broadway, gritty, millennium sort of hotel?

I agree and this is fantastic, especially for the neighborhood. I imagine there could be a wide range of interested parties; some who just might prefer the close access to downtown. Of course a greenhouse could serve any number of purposes.

One can even envision this becoming a key event place for the neighborhood. No need to order flowers?

We (I work for Zeppelin Development) will have some more accurate renderings available shortly. The Source Hotel will increase the production side of the Source, link the two projects together with a public plaza and provide a unique (for Denver) hotel (think along the lines of an Ace Hotel) experience.

We also just had our groundbreaking for Freight Residences, which will be a residential building on the TAXI site.

Side topic: So as not to have left a misleading impression... there really is urban-like development in Tempe. Per today's announcement by Eric Jay Toll:

"Exclusive: Tempe Monti's to be joined by $200M mixed use tower"
Quote:
The twin towers will rise from a combined pedestal with the 16-story Kimpton Hotel – owners of the trendy Palomar Hotel at CityScape in Downtown Phoenix – on Mill Avenue and the 15-story office building set between the hotel and former U.S. Airways headquarters building on Rio Salado Parkway. The pedestal includes combined amenities for use of both tenants and hotel guests. A walkway to the Third Avenue light rail station is part of the development.

Thanks to HX_Guy (moderator).

I posted these over in the Highrise Proposals section, but I'm not sure all of you check that out.

Anyway, here are a few new renderings of the Country Club Towers project. The LPC will be reviewing the latest design next week.

They are attempting to incorporate "International Style" design elements into the buildings (circa 1940s/1950s architectural style).

I really wish they'd make major improvements to the actual Source itself. That place feels like a sad prison.

Ground has been leveled out and appears to be getting prepped for something right behind the Hampton Inn on Speer Blvd. Zuni/Speer. Anybody?

It's going to be a Marriott product. I think a Fairfield Inn if I remember correctly.
