I suppose you're right. If the topic of discussion was whether it was appropriate to keep up decorations commemorating the various characters from Marvel and DC Comics, I most likely wouldn't have mentioned they were fictional, despite the vast amount of documentation/evidence to the contrary (mostly in the form of colorful books and motion pictures).

This was taken from the Travis County presentation re: the courthouse. I know it's just a massing, but pardon my drool.

Ha, I felt the same when I first saw the massing in the slideshow. Does anyone know if the Palm School site is slated for redevelopment?

I hope not. That's a historic building. My grandpa went there in the 20s.

If you mean the county-owned north half of the lot, then by all means.

I mean, it's historic, but it's also kind of an eyesore and it doesn't fit with the area anymore. Ideally, we could move it to somewhere else, but I think it's probably too big.

The facade may be incorporated into a new development.

I found this in a Nashville thread on Urban Planet. The rendering is for an Atlanta project, but the developers also want to build their apartment concept in Austin.

This link is for the brochure with the rendering:
http://www.sb-architects.com/project/gh-atlanta/

This link mentions the cities they plan to expand in:

Is raisin ranch a derogatory term for old folks home? My grandmother just moved into an old folks home, so I really an offended by that.

Actually it looks like a ski-resort to me. That roof thing (what the hell is it?) up there could be taken as inspired by log resort style architecture with their grand vaulted ceilings and log columns. I could see something like that in the West End near Lamar or farther north near the Capitol.

I could also see that in Rainey. I think they'll go with the West End, tho, given their vibe. I hope they do it west of Lamar, though, and on the south side of 5th. That's like the last frontier of re-development for the West End and hasn't been touched near as much as yet.

I was beaten...lol

I just saw it on the Atlanta forum and noticed it mentioned Austin as one of the cities. Dallas is the only other city that was mentioned for Texas. LA and NY were also included.

Yes, it is nice. I don't find innocuous things to get offended by. It's a wonderful way to go through life.
