Supposed to be a day care. And they might be able to, not sure.

The official listing for McAllister Place has updated. Now says "Under Contract", which means Primaris has accepted an offer but there are still some conditions to clear before closing the deal. Also means they are welcoming "back up" offers. https://property.jll.com/en-ca/listings/mcallister-place-saint-john-nb-519-westmorland-road

Curious who the new mall owners will be, perhaps WestCliff? They just bought Champlain Place in Dieppe, maybe they thought McAllister Place is a good price/deal too? (Primaris is only asking $75 million for the mall).

Yesterday, (December 3rd), “Interior Renovations” building permits were just registered for JYSK at 384 Lancaster Avenue on the west side.

Things should now finally progress with this new store that was first announced a year ago. The interior renovations are valued at $1,286,646.

Kind of surprised about this one, I figured after this long the project was DOA. Glad to see it progressing!

Kanes Corner Convenience located at 40 Loch Lomond Road has permanently closed. Apparently Let’s Hummus restaurant is moving into this building.

That’s hopeful.

I don't know anything about this company other than what I have read.....sort of a low end version of IKEA?

It's a strange location choice. I'm assuming they consider themselves a destination store rather than a retailor who needs to be in a shopping area like McAllister/East Point or the Golden Mile/Lancaster Mall area?

Has anything heard anything about the status of the two Stacked Pancake House restaurants opening here? They have been "coming soon" for months. How long does it take to fit out a QSR in a mall or strip mall? The Lancaster Mall location was announced nearly eight months ago.

I was at Lancaster Mall earlier tonight to pick someone up from Walmart and noticed the space for lease advertisement banners were removed from the outside entrance doors and windows. And looks like a construction company’s sign now posted on the doors. There seems to be delays with some other projects around the city, not just with Stacked Pancake House. Examples being JYSK, No Frills at Parkway Mall, etc.

Construction hoarding has been removed for Freshly Squeezed at McAllister Place. (Located next to Rogers, near the food court).

New permits registered on December 19th for “Tenant Fit Up For New Fast Food Restaurant” at 70 Consumers Drive. (The strip mall building with CIBC, near Walmart).

With Retail Drive getting re-aligned to meet up with Ashburn Lake Road next year, that project inspired a thought in my head about another part of the East Side that could see some simplification.

The subject site is Westmorland Rd., between Depot Ct. and the CAA entrance.

As we know, there are 2 sets of signal lights there that are much closer to one another than what exists now on Rothesay Ave.

As such, I did a crude mock-up of what I think could happen to that part of Westmorland Rd. to create less 'stop-start' on that street. The idea is below, and don't cook me for my simplistic artistic 'talent'.

Do you all here see the above happening?

Drove past there today. The space that is supposedly going to be Stacked Pancakes is still completely bare with no signs of any construction.

Would love it! However, I barely get stopped at that light. As long as it's not set to a timer and uses the sensor it should be fine for a while longer.

I believe it also facilitates movement out of the cemetery across the street, so I cannot see the City removing these lights any time soon. As you said, I rarely stop there, the sensor seems to do a good job and neither CAA nor the burial ground are high traffic destinations during peak commuting or shopping hours.

Work has begun on No Frills coming soon to 212 McAllister Drive, (next to Pharmasave).

Dumpsters are outside, lights on inside the space and construction workers inside working away. All the windows are also covered up with white tarps on the inside too.

No.
I like the idea of closing the CAA entrance, but no way do they close Depot Ct.
There needs to be two access points into Home Depot and Montana's(Retail and Depot).
If they were to close the CAA entrance, I'd suggest a new one should go like this...
