Who would ride from Doraville, down to Lindbergh, and up to Dunwoody taking over an hour when they can drive and likely get there quicker. I've lived/worked in Midtown for years and in my experience, even people who live/work near stations won't use MARTA unless it consistently saves them time, or money from paying to park. But at $95 for a monthly pass, only a few places charge more for monthly parking that I know of so why would somebody spend more time and money to travel? For the record, I am not supporting driving everywhere and killing transit and high density TOD. But it should be designed correctly and consistent with a citywide plan. Something of which many areas of Atlanta lack.

So in essence, this new development will likely have minimal reductions in vehicle trips due to the adjacent MARTA station and I can understand people in perimeter not wanting more density since the infrastructure is not built to handle it.
I use to live in Doraville and I can tell you alot of mornings it took longer to Drive to work 45 minutes to an hour than it did to drive to the Doraville station and ride the train to Dunwoody station 35 to 40 minutes not an hour and a half like you said

Nice. Hopefully that means the intersection with West Peachtree will finally get a light.

2 Million square foot MXD proposed for Perimeter Center.

Charley Brown, developer of Atlanta Station and other Atlanta mega projects, hopes to crown the north Perimeter with nearly 15 acres of high-rise office and residential towers that could be a model for “new urbanism.” The longtime Atlanta developer plans to redevelop the former Gold Kist headquarters site near Perimeter Mall in nearby Dunwoody.Brown and his company, which bought the site a few years ago and has been refining its plans for some time, appear to be gearing up for at least five towers of their own, including a hotel, residences and offices.

Looks cool, Perimeter is set to explode with more urban developments, "Buckhead 2.0" except with better layout even though not a grid, there are more n-s, and e-w roads in perimeter compared to Buckhead mostly built on the spine of Peachtree

Nice to see Buckhead 2.0 and the linear progression of high-rise Metropolitan Atlanta, continuing. Next stops: Roswell and Alpharetta in 2020.

But really, all these developments around transit stations will be good in the long run for Atlanta, although I wish our residential and business districts were more concentrated. If more people have the opportunity to live near their work or take alternative modes of transportation to work other than commuting by single occupant vehicles, the more people we'll have off the roads.

People who tend to like this don't work at Perimeter. I don't think many grasp the serious issues in the area.

This is directly connected to Dunwoody station, so at least people have the option to take transit. They can only blame themselves when they are the traffic.

Anyways it seems Perimeter is about to boom this is breaking ground this month; so I think if you don't like the traffic in PC maybe find a job further north

It was also mentioned in today's Business Chronicle Pep Boys maybe relocating their HQ to Atlanta from Philly after the merger with Kennesaw based, Auto Plus. The combined company has revenues of $3+ Billion.

That is arrogant and simplistic. Again, people who don't work in Perimeter can say that with ease I guess...

More Perimeter news.

$140M ‘spec’ office tower set to rise on north Perimeter

Atlanta developer Seven Oaks Company LLC will break ground this month on a 15-story office building on Interstate 285, the first speculative project on Atlanta’s central Perimeter in more than a decade.

I live in Midtown and work in Alpharetta. I take the train as far as I can, then drive the rest. At Perimeter stations I see lots of shuttle buses run by the different offices so I frankly see no excuse to not use transit, you don't even have to ride a Marta bus.

I'm waiting on Sandy Springs to build their monorail.

Not everybody lives in a straight line and has transit options. The shuttle buses typically are very local in nature or to get to MARTA. Once again, you have options that others do not. In what world does everyone have reasonable access to transit? I guess I forgot how we are the poster city for transit...

This presentation is very impressive - if the preliminary concept is any indication, this is a very exciting thing for Buckhead and another sign that Atlanta is growing up.
Could this serve as a test for what could work as a cap over parts of the connector? Dare to dream.....

I have two cars. I took advantage of the EV credit while it was still around and keep that at Midtown and keep my original car parked at one of the Perimeter Marta stations. Is free during the week to park overnight, and only $15 a weekend to park at Sandy Springs.

And you don't see the irony in the fact that you're arguing for how useful Marta is at the same time it requires you to own two cars?

It is useful in the confines of Perimeter Center where the big developments are going, Alpharetta the bus is too unreliable. I did try it once.

I'm just saying that it is possible to do so. In theory one could buy a cheap beater car to keep at Marta; One has to decide if they want to sit in traffic or not. I used to drive all the way Midtown to Alpharetta, and I can't ever imagine going back to that even when I go back to having one car in a few months. So I'll see what I come up with when that happens.
