CF Rideau Centre

Whenever I see CF I think Cluster Funk. But I guess in this case it means Canadian Forces.

Cadillac Fairview for those wondering. I had to google CF Rideau Centre to see what it was. Looks silly directly in front of the Rideau Centre name.

That huge thing they've been building is a parking lot? Here I was thinking it was part of the expansion (as in shops). Holy cannoli, how many parking lots do they need? Will there now officially be three lots or are they planning to eliminate one of them? To be honest, it's extremely rare for these lots to be filled to capacity. I easily find space there even during the Christmas rush.

I guess that would be the most LRT-accessible LCBO

No, the lots are underground. The large building is a retail expansion that will include Simmons.

Not the most "exciting" photo, but it does show some of the detail around the windows...

Head over to my Facebook page for Ogilvy's and see all the photos I've been taking showing some detail work over the last few months...

It's been looking stunning and now to see the scaffold come down, it'll be even easier to photograph now... Can't wait to see the Rideau St facade in its entirety...

Nicholas Street still has a little work left to do, but at least one side will be done!

They've done a top notch job bringing back this gem to life. Charles would be proud to see his original vision of his "grand store" come to life again as it originally looked using as much of the original material as possible.

and from what I understand, the red lot across from novotel will be replaced by a tower of some sort, hopefully hotel or hotel/condo; hence the need for an additional parking lot as part of their long term plan.

I'm not sure that they would tear down the Red garage. Wasn't it built not too long ago as a replacement to the old Red garage?

I had to dig a bit to find where I had seen this. I've seen it mentioned a few times including this quote from Cindy Van Buskirk from early 2015:

"As the Rideau Centre expansion wraps up, Ms. vanBuskirk said her attention could soon be directed to future development potential on lands already owned by Cadillac Fairview. These could include the “red parking garage” – a four-level building on the corner of Nicholas Street and Daly Avenue – and property where a land registry building sits."

http://www.obj.ca/Local/2015-01-29/artic...-GM-gives-update-on-renovation-project/1

For some reason I also remember seeing a graphic with a tower in the spot where the red garage currently is located. I would guess this type of redevelopment would still be years away but with a LRT station at the Rideau Centre, I would think this lot would become infinitely more valuable than a parking garage alone.
