The bridge will only have one pylon.

Thank you both for the clarification. I'm interested in what the final 'product' will be like. It will be good not to have to navigate the narrow, rickety Patullo anymore.

From Patullo Bridge Project twitter today:

With 15 piles fully installed at foundation N1, crews are now working on pouring the concrete pile cap at this site.
N1 is the second of 2 in-river bridge foundations and is located on the @New_Westminster side of the Fraser River.

Here's last month's large pour.

Quote:
On June 27th, concrete was poured continuously for 30 hours at N1, the in-river bridge foundation on the New Westminster side of the Fraser River.

Concrete is poured over rebar to create the pile cap. Once complete, columns to support the bridge deck will be constructed here.

Here’s a photo of girder installation progress in @CityofSurrey from September 7!

Steel girders are being installed over Hwy 17 to connect completed bridge foundations. These girders will support the future bridge deck.

Cable anchor boxes:

The boxes seen in the bottom left corner of this photo are “stay cable anchor boxes,” which are being installed on the bridge tower.
Stay cables supporting the bridge deck will be held in place by the anchor boxes.

The government has approved of a farewell party on the old Patullo before it gets taken apart. I couldn’t help but laugh… a party organized by the NDP would be one hell of a lame party lol.

Looks wide enough for 6 lanes, even though it's only 4 (unless there's a merge lane there).

Since it's over the highway, I'd guess it's because of the merge lanes.

Still, it'd be nice for them to be all "oops, made it too wide. Might as well have six lanes after all."
