I can only see the very east portion of Shangri-La.

BTW KI (upscale sushi restaurant) open above the Urban Fair next to Shangri-La
It looks very sharp from the outside.

Looking good, also wanted to give Kudos to some of the construction workers onsite last night that stopped the rioters from getting to the site. The rioters were able to light a garbage bin on fire at the end of the lane but didn't do any farther when they saw a line of contractors with tools in hand.

Nice views if you live on the west side - 6 feet away from somebody's office. They should have considered glazed windows on that side....

Is that a green roof on the hotel?

I think they're long big suites with just bedrooms that face directly into HSBC (so you can keep the blinds closed without much trouble) - while the living rooms face out over VAG.

That separation is pretty common in most cities other than Vancouver. It would be interesting, though to see pics to/from each side of the alley.

Yeah I agree with that. I used to always hate that angle because of the way the dated West End dominates it. Now with all the new, taller buildings it's as if a new layer has been added to the skyline.

Thanks Phil. I really like how dark the Georgia looks in the skyline. As for the view from the west side beaches - looking way into the future, Burrard Gateway, Telus and Vancouver's Turn (hopefully) should help the layering even more over a slightly wider area. Now if only one of those higher building sites in the CBD could get developed...

I overheard management from the Hotel acknowledging that they now have "control" of the hotel. The hand-off from the construction company has occurred.

My understanding is that we could see the hotel open in the next couple of weeks; likely early July.
