Nope.
Just like Target remodelled Zellers stores.
And Eaton's and Sears - somewhat - remodelled stores for eatons and Eatons.
It's just branding.
But it's off topic to discuss retail failure...

Pic by me today.
The different lines created by the variation in height of the awnings and spandrels bugs me a bit (as on the Robson side, too).
You can see the anchor points for the vertical "Nordstrom" blade sign. It won't be as big as the previous EATON'S / SEARS sign, because of the office space above. Hopefully it'll be big enough to be prominent on the massive building.

I hope the sign is better integrated into the architecture of the building, the EATON'S blade sign was beautifully executed, the Sear's one terribly as they moved it, changed the shape so that it had no relation to the glazing at the SE and SW corners of the building.

Maybe it'll be backed by light blue spandrel.

The rendering shows a fairly plain looking sign:

In the renders, the glass on the new Pacific Centre building is depicted as monochrome grey, which is fine.
However, looking at the many pictures taken by officedweller and others, that grey, if you look closely, has very subtle tinges of not only greenish blue,
but also a faint, almost imperceptible mauve-violet, which renders the glass slightly iridescent in color, almost like a film of oil on water,
and that's even better. (IMO)

thanks officedweller! the blade sign looks rather underwhelming but then so is Nordstrom's branding and identity so I don't expect anything too exciting from them.

Microsoft will take the top level signage and there will be some Pacific Centre signage at ground level.

Pics by me today - small structure built to the west of the rotunda.
Could be part of the office lobby for the upper floors.

it wasn't about retail failure more about how the building is put together would it be easy to change it out if it needed to be in the future, like replace the stone with glass or some other material

anyway hopefully more is done when i am in august to see some progress

I wouldn't get hung-up on a few sandstone-looking tiles remaining if Nordstrom exits Canada. They're hardly the McDonald's arches or the Nike swoosh, I'll bet you can count the people on one-hand who'd associate a few tiles with Nordstrom. Even the flagship downtown Seattle Nordstrom doesn't sport any sandstone tiles.

No, but they are changing use and adding acres of glazing. I'm sure the HVAC loads are way beyond what could have been accommodated with the old infrastructure.
