The point was that we have had some large projects announced. Whether or not they get built is another story.

1125 Peachtree is a part of a multi-phase project that is being developed over time as the market dictates. I wouldn't consider it dead unless the development team indicated that to be the case. As a matter of fact, someone posted that the 12th & Midtowm developers have bought most of the property along 12th street between Crescent and West Peachtree for future phases.

Unless I missed it, GE should be announcing their decision soon, too.

They did. They're staying in CT.

Do we ever get photos of the city specifically looking south from upper Midtown. Unfortunately, due to relocation I rarely get to see the changes being made in the skyline. I'm sure it's looks even more different from when I was there in August.

City approves SAP

Rezoning:
File rezoning
Present to neighborhood, NPU, then ZRB
City Council approves
Then go through one of the processes above, as applicable.
DRCs may not have the authority to approve but their recommendations must usually be taken into consideration before you can get a building permit considering the City is present at these meetings as well. Some people view them more as an architectural review board but they're looking more at the quality of life zoning overlays within their districts rather than what the building typically looks like in the end.

HJ Russell filed a special exception permit to reduce parking from 202 spaces to 40 spaces for something at 525 Glenn Ave SW in Mechanicsville. Anybody know what this is?

Although it isn't specifically looking south, this amazing shot allows a view of many of the newer projects. Midtown is definitely starting to beef up around the middle!:

Given the amount of diminishing real estate in Midtown (surface parking lots) redeveloping over the Connector could (and should) gain some more traction in the coming decades as we ride out a few more of these real-estate cycles. If only GDOT would embrace these opportunities for the growth of our region.

Passing by Atlantic House I noticed some details on the fence. It will have loft office space available, and there will be no 3 bedrooms in this iteration of the Skyhouse only studio, 1, and 2 bedroom units.

It is unfortunate because 3 bedroom units are useful for families to help keep them in the city instead of fleeing to the burbs.

GWCC Hotel likely to reach a deal within 90 days with Drew Co. development team.

Gensler will be the architect for that team. Here's hoping it will be something more bold. http://www.gensler.com/projects/advanced-search?s=title&v=grid&e%5B%5D=architecture (Some of their designs are breathtaking, but some are more modest, they worked with Duda Paine on the NCR HQ)

Also a new Hotel is planned for Buckhead near the Marta and Skyhouse/Cyan: http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/real_talk/2015/12/dual-branded-hotel-planned-for-buckhead.html

From the ABC:

"At the Dec. 1 meeting, Drew Co.’s proposal was called “conservative” and “executable.”

I'm guessing it will remain underwhelming and not as bold as you're thinking.

On the small project side, the Chick-Fil-A on Northside will open on December 9th and have 2 drive-thru's. I also noticed today that the old used car dealership across the street has been demolished. Any news/rumors about what's going here? I always presumed another drive-thru, most likely Wendy's or a fried chicken place. I bet the lot immediately south of the Chick-Fil-A will be demolished too, but I hope it's a development more like 10side.

If I'm not mistaken it's supposed to be a Waffle House.

These are lost opportunities to redevelop that corridor properly in the near-term.

Atlanta wouldn't be what it is today without Chick Fil A and Waffle House.

Damnit! Enough Waffle Houses already! You'd think the ones on Northside at I-75 and in Tech Square would be enough! And GSU practically has 3 all to itself. At least all the fast food joints are centralized on that stretch of Northside, but I hope they don't creep south of 10th or north of 14th.

The Darlington Affordable Apartment complex in Buckhead is for sale and is rumored to already have a potential buyer.

http://business.blog.myajc.com/2015/12/02/buckheads-darlington-apartment-tower-marketed-for-sale/

The sale would include the apartment building + 1 acre fronting Peachtree for redevelopment + 3.5 acres behind the apartment building for redevelopment.

And the sale flyer: http://www.jllproperty.com/Assets/Images/Doc/The_Darlington_flyer_3732253.pdf

Also the eyesore at Paces, Peachtree, and Roswell Intersection is going to be improved. Though of course the eyesore ads will remain
