Invest Atlanta support for Post Cenntenial project.

The board of Invest Atlanta will consider Thursday whether to approve a “lease-purchase” arrangement with Post, developer of the 438-unit community that will cover two city blocks near Centennial Olympic Park. As part of the deal, Post would be granted an estimated $4.6 million property tax break over 10 years in exchange for setting aside 10 percent of the units for “workforce housing.”The total development cost of the project – which is now listed at 438 units, up from 407 as reported last year – has risen to an estimated $95.1 million, according to Invest Atlanta board documents.

The Post development is part of a string of recent projects announced in the area of Centennial Olympic Park. And Mayor Kasim Reed has said a raft of new development is in the pipeline for the area.

A building permit was just filed for the Willoughby, dubbed as "the Beltline's first new office building." I thought this was already under construction. Anybody been by the site lately?

The Byron Apartments Plans 4 Million in Renovations

The residential tower at 549 Peachtree Street NE in Midtown will undergo major renovations to convert it into The Byron premium lofts, according to plans filed with the City of Atlanta Monday. Renovations on the 88,879-square-foot residential space will cost an estimated $4,000,000. The project comes from Vantage Realty Partners, founded by Chris Carter and Gene Rice, will convert the 1890's building at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Peachtree Street into 1,100-1,600-square-foot loft units.
The ground level will also lease spaces from 1,500-3,500-square-feet for retail and restaurants, according to a flyer for the project on Vantage's website.

This would be a wonderful kick start to developing the area around Peachtree Pine.

If that building was built in the 1890s then it has seen some very unfortunate remodeling. The other buildings around it are probably from the 1890s, so I don't know...

i think they're referring to the 1 story grey retail building, which still seems like an overstatement...

I hope that former Mick's nextdoor becomes something worthwhile soon too. It's been closed for YEARS!

I can't wait to see these two blocks full of activity, and I'd love to see that skyscraper planned nearby years ago SOMEHOW become a reality.

I was thinking the same thing. I hope all the residential happening somehow gets TWELVE Centennial Park north out of the ground.

The parent company abruptly vanished and had apparently been having some IRS issues. It was quite a controversy so they were probably concerned about media showing up. Normally you're right that they can't prevent that, but Atlantic Station mall is private property, so why not protect the brand a little I guess

That's actually Downtown, not Midtown... it's good to see development starting to creep south like that. I think the 20s will be very kind to that area.

I thought that Ivan Allen Blvd. was the dividing line between Midtown and Downtown.

Nope, it's North Ave, although most people consider Bank of America Plaza to be in Midtown so I guess it's kind of vague... that renovation is a good bit south of that though.

It is really fluid. The Midtown Alliance covers all the way to Pine street, and sometimes even further. For example they are paying for part of the renovations on the Peachtree bridge over the connector. But NPU-E stops at North Avenue. I'd say the area around Pine/Linden is both midtown and downtown. Or "SoNo" if you're a real estate person.

Were there any renderings of the Ponce City Market parking deck? I'm curious to see what the front facing North Ave is going to look like. Whats that little space for? It's not big enough for retail.

It replaced the old "boiler building" and it's designed to support a potential future tower.

it's crazy to think that we are getting close to "the 20's" hah

also since someone mentioned the Peachtree St. bridge improvements i'll post these images again that i was sent by the VP of Planning and Economic Development awhile back.. really gives you a better sense of the integration with the street / sidewalk. i had reached out with my concerns about them executing a faux truss bridge design but these images helped ease my concerns. if it werent for the fact that you can walk under the sculpture i would still be opposed to it.. but it has a level of interactivity this way and will be nice from a pedestrian perspective. i still think it looks too much like a faux truss bridge from the connector though
