They did an amazing job with The Prado off Roswell Rd. From what was there before and what they have there now.... WOW... major difference!

I'd live in the Atlantic. Love the Midtown Mile picture as well.

Glad to see the beginnings of the repairs for the Westin. The Sun Dial Restaurant will be closed October 6 - December 31, 2009 for window repairs, so I think in October we will start to see some real progress. Apparently the entire building won't be done until December 31, 2010 though.

It's going to be very interesting to watch and keep up with this whole process !! Lets hope that they don't accidentally drop a window pane or two......... which brings up my next question........... will there be any major lane or street closures during this whole process or will they simply cover the streets or sidewalks with scafolding and plywood protection simular to that piece of crap eyesore they still have up at The Ponce ? Also...... In this tough economy someone has had alittle bit left over to demolish a building ? or whatever directly next to the proposed Met Life lot on Spring St.

I noticed that the other day. That is actually part of the MetLife site, although I doubt it has anything to do with Metropolitan Center actually materializing.

i want to say that any debris that possibly falls from the construction/window replacement will simply land in the lobby of the hotel, because the entire hotel is surrounded by skylights (or simply a roof) in the atrium/lobby. i guess they may board up the ceiling?

and great pictures everybody (all the shots are nice)! it is nice to see more updates on the thread lately, because i havent had the ability to see it all in person since i moved to savannah.

Oh god I hope not. While it would be kind of cool to see the Westin's alter ego, I think i'd prefer the original.

The Westin's current glass IS bronze. It just looks blue thanks to the reflection of the sky.

There's no way the Westin's glass will be bronze.

They can't even make glass out of bronze. You wouldn't be able to see through it. Totally defeats the purpose of it being a WINDOW.

a group of friends and i were thinking the other day, "what color would be best to replace the blue on the westin?".

our consensus was either black, a deep (maybe aqua) green, or a dark shade of red, almost burgundy. there are really beautiful towers around the world in extreme colors, and they just look so good.

and lets not forget how great the bb&t building @ atlantic station looks, black glass is so sexy.

sometimes i really wish they had atlanta magazine and/or creative loafing do a poll as to what color the westin building should be [post tornado].

I think we all meant bronze-tinted.

Nice picture update. A few of those of The Atlantic look like very good renderings. The picture of Midtown from the SE makes it looks very good and dense.

Now, how are they going to move these windows, via the window washers?

Has anyone noticed the building (I believe it is on Ralph McGill) near the Imperial has been plastered with full size banners for Holiday Inn stating "A Change is on the Way" or something to that effect? Are they rehabbing that building or is this just a billboard?
