I could not help but compare it with "The Ottawa Train Yards", but it doesn't compare.

Looks kinda similar to Lansdowne, except it's within a suburban area.

Toronto's urbanizing at an unbelievably rapid pace, it's amazing to watch.

There are a few suburban malls that are pedestrian friendly, Quartier Dix 30 in the South Shore of Montreal is another good example, they have enclosed streets internally, and underground parking in the area of HR2, restaurants with Patios on the ground floor or rooftop patios, and the streetview does not show the enclosed streets.

I also went to a few in the US, such as Woodbury Commons but the one I really liked was Kierland Commons in Scottsdale, Arizona. They also had built condos above the retail stores in the area so people can live and shop with hotels near buy such as the Westin Kierland.

We don't have to go too far to find pedestrian-friendly outdoor suburban malls... Tanger Outlets right here in Ottawa is like that, at least once you get into the mall area itself (it is surrounded by surface parking).

Forgot about Tanger, yes, perfect example. Too bad did did not do that at the trainyards.

Noticed today that Place D'Orleans mall map on the landlords website shows a Forever 21 store directly across from H&M. 14k sq feet.

That will do ridiculously well there. Projected opening November 2015.

Looking closer...and educating myself on brands. This will be an "F21 Red"...which seems to be a discount version.

F21 RED, is taking over where Tommy used to be not long ago. Place dorleans is really making a big shuffle of their stores. Most stores have moved location into a newly renovated space. All I want is a Jimmy the greek

While I don't know how far/close they are in Vancouver, I wonder why Bass Pro Shop is not setting up shop in the East part of Ottawa, seeing Cabela's is going to the West (Kanata)?

That will also potentially lure customers from Montreal as well...unless they are planning to have something there in the not too distant future?

The west end is the best choice because it's on the way to wilderness areas to the west and southwest of Ottawa which is where everyone from the area goes for hunting, fishing and boating (if they are staying on the Ontario side).

The areas to the east of Ottawa tend to be flat farm fields as opposed to lakes, hills and forests.

The Gatineau Hills are another major destination but I am not sure how that would fit in for Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's unless you wanted to put one somewhere in the north end of Hull. But neither company is in Quebec at the moment.

As for Montrealers they stay in Quebec and go either north or east of the city for ''sportsmen's'' activities. I don't see them having a Cabela's or Bass in east end Ottawa as part of their circuit.

As a result, the stores will close on August 8, Ms. Staniec said.

The shutdown of the stores, most of them in Ontario, will leave 485 employees without jobs, and Telus will try to find them positions at its other outlets, such as Telus and Koodo stores, she said.

Telus tried to find a buyer for Blacks but wasn’t able to find a suitable suitor, she said.

Last year, the retailer tried to reshape its stores with a new prototype, which shifted the emphasis to displays of merchandise in an art-gallery-like setting, with a focus, for instance, on canvas-wrapped prints. Three stores got the makeover in the past year, but it wasn’t enough to show signs that the chain could become profitable, Ms. Staniec said.

Telus bought Blacks in 2009 for $28-million, closed almost half the stores and invested in improving the outlets as the industry moved quickly to digital alternatives.

Telus will report the financial consequences of shutting down Blacks in its next quarterly results release, expected in August.

Jack Astor's is coming to West Hunt Club Road (near Panera Bread).

I remember the time when the Keg's was the only (decent and big) restaurant for a good stretch of West Hunt Club Road. Now there is no shortage of them!
