I think the goal is to incorporate all of the areas where a loop around the city would go BEFORE pushing for its construction. On another note, the WAVE does not serve some areas where they could pick up ridership because the community they are in will not contribute. Remember, WAVE is not part of the city and can put routes wherever they think it will work.

Mobile's just not ready for heavy transit yet. However, I do thnk that the interstate runs through the city in a wierd way. But whatever...

I didn`t know that WAVE wasnt`t owned by the city is that a good or bad thing ? The Tillmanscorner 2006 population was 15,685 your right. The Mobile police department cover over 250,000 residents do you guys think that the city will slowly try to annex these areas that are coverd by the city ?

If they had a heavy transit, I would ride it. Back in the 90's the city had a special on fox ten that projected the port city in 15 years and in that plan, it included a monorail system across the bay and through mid town. The Press even had a special print out of it as well.

your right it does but,I belive the reason for that is, I -65 was built befor the west of the city started expanding like that. I-10 is in a good location needs widening though. I-165 that runs through Prichard wasa wast of money to me but if you look at it , it gives a good short cut to D.T. I heard that West Mobile residents would not sell there land at the price that was given for an interstate do be built. Un like the residents in the Prichard area who were forced to move even with the low prices that were offerd to them. Prices that were less than there home value. West Mobile residents would not sell and they did not force them to move either. An interstate going west is more of a need than the I-165(Prichard). I also believe that the reason why an interstate doesn`t run in the middle of the city is because frm the Loop area eastward it`s all historic and the 300 + year old trees.

yeah I rember taht they also said we will have aorund 1 mill people in Mobile county also by the year 2015 7 or 800 maybe 1 mill naw.

I had the print out of it for the longest time and when I moved, I threw it away. I wanted to keep it to see how much would change throughout the next 15-20 years.

I thought the Wave was part of the city. The Wave is funded by the federal government and Mobile. Case in point, Prichard was awarded federal money for a bus hub in their downtown area but when it came to Mobile City Council it wasn't approved...why? Because Prichard don't wanna help pay for shit. So the money is there but won't be used until Prichard help pay the bill for the service they recieve. Mayor Jones said last year that if Prichard and Mobile County don't help pay for the Wave then services will be limited to just the City of Mobile.

I was tempted to do the same, but reason got the best of me. Maybe this will get midwestrabbi to respond over here about his seeming hatred towards Mobile.

It is hard to believe he hates you Mobile since nothing happens in the city. You would think he would hate a booming city between Mobile and PCola like Elberta.

I'm glad we don't have an interstate highway running east-west through the City of Mobile. I wouldn't mind seeing some type of high volume parkway-esque thoroughfare constructed along or near the banks of Three Mile Creek. Unfortunately, runoff from such a hypothetical highway would be quite an issue.

The coloring of the wires kind of evokes the color schemes of the Convention Center and RSA Tower. I would prefer a light cerulean.
