When there are multiple cranes they usually keep them at different heights for safety reasons. The lower one is probably at the actual height.

I'm a little confused about where that's going because the address they provide is already developed... anyway, there's quite a bit of retail around there already and I doubt there's enough foot traffic to justify more... even Midtown has a lot of vacancies for now but there are DRC requirements to meet and future growth is a safe assumption.

Yep, the address is a mistake I assume. It is the one Cheshire Vista on Devmap.io I believe: http://devmap.io/cities/atlanta/developments#cheshire-vista. And if it is in fact this development, then thank god they redesigned it because original plan was horrid.

Ah, that location makes more sense, and it does look like the same project... you're right that the newer design is much nicer.

What looks like a pretty substantial construction compound is being built west of Spring near 16th. I'm guessing AMLI could be a go very shortly.

Must be groundbreaking for the environmental remediation cause the main permit wasn't issued there yet. (in regards to NCR)

Post Centennial's two permits are almost approved only have site dev. approval remaining. So that may be moving forward before end of year or more likely Q1 2016

Also Lucky Market (Colorado based) and Lidl (Germany based) are scouting for locations to put grocery stores in metro Atlanta. Maybe one of the mixed uses proposed can snag one in Midtown: http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/print...er-lidl-scouts-first-georgia-stores.html

AIA Atlanta awards design for Westside BeltlineTrail. pavillion

In an attempt to improve our city’s urban design, AIA Atlanta sponsored a national design competition for a new pavilion that could be built along the Westside BeltLine Trail at Adair Park. The winning design was from Tim Bragan, Sylvan Miles and Harry Ross of Washington, D.C. – receiving $10,000 for their entry.

The National Pavilion Design Competition seeks to create an iconic landmark in Adair Park,” according to Paul Morris, president and CEO of Atlanta BeltLine Inc. So an invite for the design competition went out to architectural and design professionals – and AIA Atlanta and the BeltLine received entries from as far north as New York City and as far south as Puerto Rico. Then a jury of design professionals and civic leaders evaluated the design proposals.

It means they will be having the groundbreaking ceremony, not necessarily that any work will begin immediately. Still it's a big step and I'm excited that it's moving forward.

Speaking of which, isn't the computing center also supposed to break ground this year?

Can't wait! I hope all the fenced off lots break ground soon (that means you, AMLI Arts Center!)

So looks like the two Peachtree Bridge improvements are ramping up.

Quote:
Under Construction
Monthly Construction Update: October 25, 2015

Each month, we provide a construction update on our current Public Space Projects. See what's happening as we give you more to love about Midtown.

Peachtree Street Bridge (South) - Midtown Alliance, in cooperation with Central Atlanta Progress (CAP), is directing a $6 million enhancement of the two Peachtree Street bridges over I-75/85. This effort will celebrate the bridges on either end of Midtown as gateways to Atlanta's urban core. Enhancements will include new gateway features, bridge fencing, lighting, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities. CAP's contractor began construction on the South (Downtown) bridge between Pine Street and Ralph McGill Boulevard last week. Material procurement and shop drawings are underway for the North (Midtown) bridge, with construction scheduled to mobilize within a month. The bridges have a 12-to-14-month construction schedule.

Sidewalk Repairs - Since November 2014, construction crews have been busy tackling a scope of 150 priority repairs on 11 corridors throughout the Midtown Improvement District. Work includes sidewalk patching or replacement, resetting pavers, curb and ADA ramp upgrades, and other sidewalk repairs to help maintain and improve Midtown's walkability. Approximately 60 repairs have been completed to-date, including: 30 locations on Peachtree St. from Ponce de Leon to Pershing Point Park; a section of Spring St. just north of 10th St.; Peachtree Walk between 11th and 13th Streets; sections on Crescent Ave. at Margaret Mitchell House; Juniper St. near Hyatt Midtown Hotel; 12th St. between Juniper St. and Piedmont Ave.; and 11th St. between West Peachtree and Peachtree Walk. Next, Crews will replace damaged medians and bollards at the intersection of 14th St. and Piedmont Ave. and move to repair other sidewalks on West Peachtree St. aiming to repair 20 more locations by end-2015.

10th Streetscape - Construction of the streetscape was completed earlier this year, including installation of new sidewalks, street trees, pedestrian lighting, landscaped medians, curbs, street paving, bike facilities, and ADA upgrades between Williams Street and Piedmont Avenue. Other improvements included a new signalized mid-block pedestrian crossing at the Midtown MARTA Station and burial of select overhead utilities. Final utility and street light work resumed last week to transfer overhead services underground so that overhead utility lines and wooden poles can be removed between Peachtree and Juniper Streets. The project is expected to be fully complete in Fall 2015.

Enhancements

Fall Landscape Installation - Installation of cool season color/annual flowers is currently underway along streets, in medians, and in public parks and plazas throughout the Midtown Improvement District. Replacement trees, shrubs and perennials will also be installed in October and November. Midtown Alliance is also exploring the potential to transplant a handful of street trees from existing tree wells to new locations that better suit them for various reasons. Stay tuned for more!

Tree Well Fencing and Planting - Midtown's Tree Well Adoption Program has been underway since 2013. To-date 262 tree wells have been adopted by partners, and new tree well fencing and low-water use perennials and flowers have been installed along much of Peachtree Street from Ponce to 15th Street. Look for more fencing and beautiful new plants on Peachtree Street and other priority Midtown corridors throughout 2015.

Interesting they presented this view of the project. Originally this project was announced Sept '14. It was to include 130 apartments and a 220 room hotel. The pic below details the hotel.

Any idea what streets this is located between? It's difficult to tell from the rendering.

Looks like the bridge is COP. Mitchell is the street that goes under the bridge and it intersects with Magnum. You can see the white building used in Walking Dead in the backdrop. That looks like it will help bridge the gap between the elevated parts of that area and the surface level; at least for pedestrians.

From Atlanta Downtown:
A roughly 200-room hotel with about 130 apartments, 33,000-square feet of retail space, and a small park on a site bounded by Centennial Olympic Park Dr.,Mitchell St., Chapel St., and Magnum St.

A commercial land development permit has been filed for this property: http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/16619387/160-Pine-Street-Atlanta-GA/ (that is the grass lot next to that retro-futurism building catty corner to the Civic Center-SciTrek.

Permit is for a "St Jude Recovery Center-LD" with assocaited LD costs of $400,000

There is a 2nd permit for St Jude Recovery Center at 151 RENAISSANCE which is very near and it has a cost of LD of $300,000 for a total of $700,000 of LD construction costs between the two.

Here:

The background in the original rendering isn't the most accurate, so I can see why there's confusion.

EDIT: Woops! foxmccleod and arctk2014 beat me to it

JLB Partners buys Buckhead Village site, plans mixed-use development

JLB Partners is once again betting on a prime site in the rapidly growing Buckhead Village.

The real estate company bought a 3-acre collection of low-rise commercial buildings on West Paces Ferry Road across from the St. Regis Atlanta hotel and just west of the Buckhead Whole Foods Market.
The Buckhead Village, a mix of new high-rise apartments, upscale boutiques, and aging low-rise brick buildings, is one of intown Atlanta’s busiest neighborhoods for new development.

Cushman & Wakefield was listing the site on behalf of a group of German investors known as Eight Hundred Corp.
Neither side released details of the transaction, but JLB Partners is said to have paid almost $30 million.

JLB could be a year away from developing the site, which a company representative said is zoned for a mixed-use project that features a mid-rise building up to 15 stories. JLB is considering its alternatives. One design might include a large residential project with street-level retail. Another might have options that include a hotel or office building.

The Buckhead Village, a mix of new high-rise apartments and upscale boutiques and aging low-rise brick buildings, is one of intown Atlanta’s busiest neighborhoods for new development.

OliverMcMillan Inc.’s Shops, Buckhead Atlanta development has been the biggest catalyst for investment in the Village since the recovery started, particularly along Peachtreee and the east side of the Village along Pharr and East Paces Ferry roads. Now, more developers are considering sites in the West Village.

JLB already developed one successful Buckhead Village site. More than a year ago, Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. paid $106.5 million, or a bit more than $284,000 a unit, for JLB’s Elle Atlanta, a 373-unit apartment project at Peachtree and Pharr roads.
