Well that's good news. We don't need any more parking Downtown. The Fact Finding reads 18 floors though. If this is comparable to Aspire, we're looking at another tower around 240'ish.

Edit: There's also a fire hydrant flow test permit and a sub development app on this. So it's a little further along than a fact finding at this point.

I've got some really good stuff for you guys regarding Astra. I need to upload some stuff, so you all can see. So this is going to just give you all a teaser until I can get everything uploaded.

As previously mentioned from another forumer, this will be a 2 tower development that will be in 2 phases. Thankfully, phase 1 will be the new tallest at whopping 532' to the roof of the penthouse! This beats Chase by nearly 50' (and actually by a few feet more as there is a mechanical roof on the top that will add a few feet). The 2nd phase would be the smaller tower at 359'. The tallest will not be a show-stopper, BUT will be the best looking tower in Phoenix by far. It seems to have picked up some design queues from the former Davis Experience Central Station proposal in style and color, but not as wild looking.

More to come...

Astra

As promised, here you all go! Your proposed new Phoenix tallest! To put this in perspective, the shorter tower would only be 9' taller than Link

The first rendering is the shorter tower. The taller tower looks to have more glass and blue colors.

Thanks for uploading. So much to digest. It appears a portion of Phase 1 will be hotel. The bulk of both buildings will certainly eat up a good portion of those lots.

Correct on the hotel. The pre-app states a 4-star hotel will take up some floors. Not sure if they already have someone lined up or not.

Quite a mix of colors. I think they will look great! I sort of wish there was more done with the roof, perhaps a crown, but I'm just thrilled to have a proposal for a new tallest. I'd love to see Phoenix get a building with an awesome crown lit up at night.

Hell to the yes, bring it on already. Phoenix needs a new tallest so we can let Chase Tower retire in glory.

Speaking of hotels, wasn't Central Station supposed to have one? I thought the Intercontinental brand was tossed around. I haven't heard anything about that project in quite some time.

This is great, except that it specifies 2nd St when it should clearly be 2nd Ave. Details, I guess.

It looks almost like the a reworking of the same architect's Nashville Four Seasons project.

Thanks Ronnie for having and posting these!

Lots of positives, of course, but here are a couple negatives:

1. I wish the tallest tower would be on the south side of the lot so it is slightly closer to the core and would have the smaller tower bookending it.

2. It's really slim from 2 sides and looks weak from the east/west, especially for a tallest building in a city. It's kind of exacerbated with the huge bottom portion. It looks good from the north/ south though.

3. The top does need something, it doesn't look too amazing for a new tallest and it doesn't seem to lend itself to good nighttime lighting.

Aside from that I'm sure there'll be more things about it that come up, but in the mean time.... i hope hope hope this gets built. 1973 is a LOoooong time ago.

The short one is really goofy looking and will age terribly but the tall one look pretty good.

What a massive project. And these are the guys between Stewart and Aspire?

FINALLY - a 500+ footer. How likely is this project? Yes, reminds me of some similar size new towers in Nashville which is on fire and, yes, taller. But, dang, going in the right direction with this kind of proposal !

Isn't Aspire a two tower project? Phase I is the first tower and phase II is the second tower.

All fair points here, in terms of number 2 though you have to remember that it will basically be surrounded by shorter towers on almost every side. So the large bottoms shouldn't stand out all that much unless you're near it.
